Sundek of Austin quoted us a price of $4,560.11 (job-3210714085971) for Classic Texture cement overlay system. The services quoted was to prepare the surface via grinding existing pool deck to remove existing materials to a homogenous surface, squeegee base coat, apply Classic texture, apply acrylic color seal with aggregate colors. Agreement was signed on July 14th, with an estimated commencement date in November. Sundek contacted us stating there was an opening in their schedule and wanted to begin their process the next day, months early. We had not even paid our scheduled deposit. We agreed and work began the next day. It rained 4" the night they began work. The first stages were completed in the first couple days, with the the grinding and cement preparation, where the issue was created by Sundek. They arrived around lunch to apply the color/seal/aggregate with the knowledge that there was another large thunderstorm approaching late in the afternoon. The work crew completed both coats around the pool area, and had the patio area to complete. They rushed to complete the patio area before the storm arrived. Upon completion we noticed two issues: 1) The patio is now puddling and holding water in areas that were not present prior to the work completion. 2) The coloration and thickness of the patio is different from the pool decking as a result of ******* to beat the incoming storm. There were no cracks or puddling before Sundek began work on the deck. The Sundek offered solution is to reshoot the low area, use their leveling process that doesn't properly bond to the base concrete level, & offers only 1yr guarantee & for us to pay for a problem they caused. We offered 2 solutions. 1. Reshoot the lower deck that puddles, applying more Sundek to raise low spots. 2.Half of the job around the pool was done properly, half was not. We offered to pay for half of the invoice. They declined & intend to file a lien. We are asking you for mediation per the contract.best
