Darden Building Materials installed my LP fireplace in 11/2020. In May of 2021, they installed a blower fan (by a very rude, abrasive tech) because the fireplace wasnt putting out almost any heat. The blower worked for the winter of 2021 (used maybe ***** times). In the winter of 2022 (the next season).the blower would not work. It lasted one season (***** uses) and then quit. I reached out to Darden and told them about it and about a rattling noise I hear from my chimney that echos through the house when the wind blows.. They said its still covered under warranty and they would send a tech out. They mentioned that the tech that did the work before has caused them a lot of headaches. When the new tech came out, he said he smelled leaking gas and he immediately shut off the gas. I told him I have smelled it each time Ive used it and he said that is not normal. He didnt have the parts with him for the blower (as he didnt even know what type it was till he took it apart). During my wait I had VERY little communication from them. The tech returned a month later and worked on it another 2-3 hours and said he finally was able to stop the leak. He left because he still didnt have the parts to repair the blower and a few weeks later, Darden reaches out and states that I have to pay for parts and transportation ($333 total) because their tech has had to come out 3 times. Their tech installed it, it rattled, it leaked gas and the blower lasted 1 season. The next tech didnt bring a ladder, didnt bring a sealant and didnt have parts for the repair. Their techs are inept at best, and their business practices are shady. They do NOT stand behind their work and what they install, COULD blow up and kill you due to leaking gas. I would NOT recommend **** Darden and Darden Building Materials for any of the work you need done.
