Came in to purchase a vehicle. Our salesman was great. Once we began negotiations, sales manager ***************************** came out and very rudely addressed us. He raised his voice and was aggressive. He claimed we proposed an offer, and it was accepted, so we were bound to the purchase. I am an attorney and immediately told my husband that we were not bound to any agreement as we had not discussed and agreed to all essential terms. ***** continued to yell that we had made an offer, and it had been accepted. He attempted to use this tactic to intimidate us into the purchase. The entire interaction was awful and unbelievable (we have purchased vehicles before and have NEVER been treated this way). ***** was so aggressive throughout the entire interaction that we had to walk out. ***** should not be allowed to speak to consumers this way and potentially intimidate a consumer into a $70,000 loan.

******************* - We are glad to hear your Sales Consultant was great and disappointed to hear you were not able to come to an agreement on a purchase.  It was surprising to hear you feel our Sales Manager raised his voice, was aggressive, yelled, and attempted to intimidate you and your husband.  As our showroom is completely open, this should have been noticed by another member of our management team and / or your Sales Consultant and been immediately rectified.  Again, we are not sure where the miscommunication took place but if you have not purchased a vehicle elsewhere we would certainly like the opportunity to have you continue working with your Sales Consultant and a different Sales Manager so y'all are able to get into a new ride!

Bought a car from them, they said they did a check over it before selling it to me. Told me it needed some maintenance, so I didnt even get the car after buying it until two weeks later. I finally get the car and then not even two months later I take it into the shop and it needs over $2000 worth of work done. What did they actually check for before selling it to me? The mechanic said there is no way they could have accidentally missed the work needed if they looked. Could not be more disappointed.

****** - We are disappointed to hear you are having problems with your 2018 ****** Forester.  Unfortunately, there is no way to know what has happened with the vehicle in the six weeks you have owned it, however, if there was something we missed during reconditioning it should have presented an issue long before 6 weeks.  We are not surprised a mechanic would blame the dealership when trying to sell you $2,000 worth of work; if you had contacted anyone on our management team about your concern we would have been happy to inspect / diagnose your concern to determine if we did miss something in reconditioning (no technician is perfect) or if we believe the problem was either not present or developed over the past 6 weeks.  When we performed our reconditioning in May the vehicle had ****** miles we completed an oil change, oil filter replacement, engine air filter replacement, cabin air filter replacement, replaced the wiper blades, replaced the windshield, replaced the ** compressor, replaced the catch tank and hose, replaced a broken wheel stud, and recalibrated the auto window function, spending about $2,400 making sure the vehicle was in good shape before delivery.

***** - We are very surprised to hear you feel a service tech stated this reply.  Do you remember who you spoke with?  Did you speak with anyone on our management team about your concern or your experience?  We would enjoy the opportunity to assist you with your concern but will need more information to do so.

I purchased a vehicle on 06.16.23 and I asked for copies of only the initial pages that they didn't hand me that night. The men that I did business with that night on 06.16,2023 hesitated to give copies of all initial documents. He handed me copies of the documents that I signed but not the initial documents I initialed. I asked ******* for those documents since he was the sales men assistance helping me that night and he said that the bank had all the copies. I received only one initial page out of 5 pages on June 29, 2023 along with the license by mail. I requested the other additional initial pages like eight times on several dates according to the texts I sent them. I spoke to a ****, a ******, and the ** manager and they have disregarded my request. They were all rude and obnoxious and they all told me the same thing that they didn't know what I was talking about and they all hung up the phone on me instead of helping me. I was skeptical because I don't know why they won't release those additional initial pages. I don't know what they are all hiding maybe nothing but I need copies of all documents that I initialed that night. I don't trust them. I hope someone reads this and helps me get through these men. We will never go back to buy another vehicle with them. The all are bad men and have poor customer service.

Thank you for purchasing your 2020 Chevrolet Trax from San Marcos Toyota.  You were provided all signed copies when you purchased the vehicle and a second set of copies was mailed to you, as requested, along with your license plates.  The reason our team is unable to assist you further is because no one on our team knows what documents you are referring to that you are requesting.  We are not hiding anything as there is nothing to hide.  You state you don't trust us and "all are bad men" however we even offered to purchase the vehicle back from you if you were not satisfied and you did not accept this offer.

I never received the buy back offer. Can you prove it? We received the license plates as you stated and only received one page out of four pages initialed. The document is called DISCLOSURE OF PROTECTION AND FINANCE OPTIONS. Please get a hold of **** an older guy and ask him about all the documents that he had me initial while ******* me when I was trying to finalized documents with the bank of the phone. I am really concerned that you did not provide the complete set of initial documents. How do you propose to buy back the vehicle? In addition, we received the vehicle with a cracked windshield, and bad windshield wiper blades, and unevenly worn rear tires. Most of these items would not pass the State Inspection but it was passed by San Marcos Toyota.

Stu **** **** from *** Marcos, *****. I brought my 2020 Tundra 4 WD into San Marcos Toyota pursuant to a scheduled appointment at 10:30 AM on Tuesday December 27th, 2022. Evidently t**** was a glitch in communication btw the Service person in the cubicle and the actual installation tech in the side area of the establishment, ultimately causing me to have to leave my vehicle overnight. The following day on December 28th, 2022, (today) I was contacted by Service Manager (Advisor) ******************************* at approximately **** (AM), as she was off on December 27th, when I brought the vehicle in. ******* was advised of the event, immediately called me and indicated that she would personally conduct oversight of the work on my vehicle and have the vehicle ready by 10:30 AM. ******* was very apologetic for the miss communication. ******* was kind, diplomatic, and extremely professional in dealing with me and exercised a paramount concern to make sure I was satisfied. ******************************* should be commended for her professionalism, courtesy, and oversight in dealing with these issues daily. I know a little about San Marcos Toyota as Salesman ********************* has been instrumental in selling both my daughter and I approximately (13) different vehicle, in as many years. ********************* has always treated my family with a high degree of professional courtesy, as he has gone above the call of duty in satisfying my family's needs incorporating honor and dignity while representing San Marcos Toyota. I am forwarding a copy of my remarks to CEO Toyota, Tetsuo "************* in hopes that he is as proud of his Toyota representatives as I am. Thank you very much. ...Sincerely, Stu ****

In February of this year, My boyfriend and I stopped by Toyota in San Marcos. When we got there it took someone 30 minutes to greet us. There was a lot of people who were up front hanging out and laughing. Finally one of sales people Cici, came up to us and told us to hold on while she was dealing with another customer. Finally after an hour she came up and we discussed about the car and the price we were looking for. She showed us the car, we took for a test drive, my boyfriend fell in love with it. He was very hesitant about signing but he loved the truck so much he did not want to pass on it and he was promised he would be able to take it home that night. I have been through the car buying process and I've been at a location for over 5-6 hours, but this car dealership we were able to sign off on papers and walk out within 2 hours. Approval didn't take long, which should've been red flag number one. We thought we got a great deal on the truck then the problems started happening. The truck started having battery issues, when we were told everything on the inside was "brand new" and fixed. I called the office to speak to a manager more about the history, got a call from *****, who one was very rude and unhelpful. Blew off the entire fact that I waited 3 days for him to call me back and then told me if it was something bad I should've shown up to the dealership. Battery issue still go one, I call and I'm forwarded to a voicemail, I NEVER GOT A CALL BACK ABOUT THE BATTERY. Fast forward to 6/27/2022 there is leaking from the inside. My boyfriend calls and leaves a voicemail, we get a call back surprisingly! We get squeezed in to their "tight schedule" to only be told we would have to pay almost 6k in repairs for a truck that was sold broken from the beginning. There is just so much fraud going on in this place and I just want to bring this to the attention to whole world. STAY AWAY FROM THEM. TAKE YOUR MONEY ELSEWHERE

I called ***** and was told the highlander we wanted was coming in on the 22nd. So I drive from Georgetown (1.5hr.) taking time off work, to sign a holding paper. Talked with snake salesman named ***********************, signed papers and he kept telling me in on 22nd it WILL BE HERE. 21st I CALLED. and was told not on transit yet. 22nd I HAD TO CALL AGAIN. This time I was told oh no won't be here till 26th by some random sales chick. Then when asked to talk with snake, he was too busy to talk and would have to get back with me. When snake called he even said "it was sounding like bait and switch"! YES IT DOES! JERK!That ****** me off! Again took time from work that day to go get car. Nope was lied to again! So I looked in ********************************************* had EXACT SAME EVERYTHING for $5000 LESS!! The GREAT salesman at ************ even told me he had many people coming from SM ********************** because of rude sales people! San ****** may be small town but they ***** huge to their customers! STAY AWAY FROM SAN MARCUS **************************** day I picked up the EXACT same Highlander for $5000 less, waited only 1.5 days to come in, THEN the snake's sales manager BALDO text me to say the over inflated priced car is there! No sorry for outselling car from me or anything! Little late for him to try to get into mix! I had just signed for new car @ ************ before he called! So if you hear that San ****** ********************** is a great car dealer, then that person got ripped off and don't know it. I have been in the car business over 50 years and can tell you for a FACT, The slim ***** @San ****** ********************** are full of crap! Their asking prices are way over MSRP, they load up options that normal people will not need so they can **** up prices, they have no idea about their shipments, The salesmen are liers, rude and not best smelling. AND have some BS window protectant? no such thing.$$ WHY treat other TEXANS like that? Avoid those idiots and visit anyone else!! JERKS!!!

***** You contacted San Marcos Toyota on February 7th inquiring about a Highlander for your wife and ***** sent you details on two incoming Highlanders. You chose the white one and schedule a time to come visit with a Sales Consultant and secure the vehicle. At that time, ***** informed you the vehicle was scheduled to arrive at our dealership around February 22nd. You visited our dealership on Saturday, February 12th, and worked with Mazin to secure the Highlander for your purchase. On February 21st you called and spoke with Mazin, who let you know the vehicle was scheduled to be here the next day (February 22nd), however the vehicle had not been dispatched or loaded at the processing center. He also said he would call you as soon as he knew it was loaded and give you an ETA to San Marcos Toyota. On February 22nd you called our dealership and ***** let you know the vehicle showed to be arriving at the processing center on the 25th and would be here about a week later. This was obviously confusing for you to hear so you asked that Mazin get back to you with an update. On February 25th, ****** called to let you know the Highlander had arrived and you set an appointment for the next day, Saturday, February 26th, at noon, to come in and take delivery of the Highlander. When our Sales Manager, Baldo, text you on Saturday morning to confirm your appointment to pick up your new Highlander, we received this reply, No! After We were LIEDto about delivery and the ****** inflated price you try to stick us with, the **** with SM toyota! I am picking SAME VEHICLE UP NOW for $5000 less! Stupid s**** should have been nicer when two employees say "it will be here on 22nd" and NO CALLS. So when I have to call day before to here oh no wont be here ther. S**** you! I will pass my anger to socal media as well as higher *** through Toyota for the svam you pull. Tell ***** and the other idiot to s**** off! We were definitely surprised to hear you switch overnight from setting an appointment to take delivery of your new Highlander to your text message. We do not agree with your review of our dealership or personnel but are pleased to hear you purchased a new Highlander from ************************* Toyota and are now a happy member of the Toyota family.

Through our entire time in the process we felt discriminated as a black family working with the dealership in trying to purchase a vehicle. We had visited the dealership three time and went with this dealership as it had in stock a preowned vehicle we wanted then later decided for a new vehicle. From test driving vehicles and level of service, it was not the same provided to us as we clearly saw being provide to another white family with a small child too or even the elderly white individuals. They wanted us to fill out a credit application for which we explicitly said we will not be financing through them and rather our credit Union. The second day we were there it was late and we called it a night and decided to come back in the morning to finish the process. Again, we told them repeatedly verbally that We do not consent for them running a application. We found out through our bank that they did it anyway on our way there and then I sent a text telling them that. They kept lying by saying it was to keep on file but they is not what was performed. We told them we will not finance through the dealer. As we were finalizing the purchase order, the agent told us we could not then drive off with the vehicle until they have the draft with the vehicle. This was not a clear policy presented or provided in writing to inform us of this. If seemed like that just continued to add to that they were treating us different because we were black. They ran a finance application and pulled credit as to confirm with their own eyes we were approved for the vehicle we were getting.

      San Marcos Toyota Response

      11/10/2021

Dear Madam - You submitted a similar negative review to our dealership website while you were still at the dealership and our General Sales Manager immediately reached out to address your concerns about the credit application. It was when he called you we learned you were still at the dealership. He immediately came out to talk to you in the parking lot and apologized for the miscommunication about financing with your bank through the dealership (which would have allowed you to take delivery of your vehicle immediately) versus signing your loan with your bank and then proceeding to the dealership (where your vehicle would not be released until the dealership received drafting instructions from your bank). Our GSM explained this is standard procedure at San Marcos Toyota despite your objection that other dealerships have previously allowed you to take delivery of a vehicle before the dealership has been paid for the vehicle. Our GSM said you accepted our apology for the miscommunication and mistake on our part; then he offered for us to cancel your transaction if you were unhappy or move forward with the purchase as we wanted y'all to be completely comfortable with such an important decision. Y'all chose to continue your purchase with San Marcos Toyota and were able to take delivery of your new 2022 Highlander several hours later as soon as we received the drafting instructions from your bank. **** also addressed your accusation of "discriminated as a black family" as false. We treat all customers equally. We truly apologize you felt you were treated differently than "another white family with a small child too or even the elderly white individuals" but we do not believe this was the result of any actions by an employee of our dealership but perhaps your frustration with finding the right vehicle, arranging financing, and our policy not to let vehicles be delivered before drafting has been received when the customer chooses outside financing. It was especially troubling for your Sales Consultant who was born in *******, immigrated to ***************** in 2017, has worked for San Marcos Toyota since January 2021, spent 3 days helping you find the right vehicle, and is African-American to hear you felt you were discriminated against. He truly did his best to provide your family an outstanding purchase experience. We look forward to servicing your *************************************************************************************************************************************************************** our employee's skin. We are here to serve and provide all San Marcos Toyota customers an outstanding experience!
