I signed a 6 month lease beginning May 26, 2023 at ****************. I paid about $1000 to secure my apartment including a $500 deposit. To my knowledge the apartment would be move in ready after my cross country move. Upon arrival, the apartment was infested with cockroaches, neglected, poorly maintained including not swept floors, lack of drain covers (the sinks had uncovered holes where cockroaches were coming from) and a distinct cigarette odor. After reporting these finding, the property manager, *******, chose to dismiss them, going as far as to disregard their existence at all. With photo evidence I drove an hour to report the incident to the regional property manager, **********************, at RMP Living. I chose to not move in, filed a complaint and paid $500/ month rent for two months at familys until I could find a new apartment with a hole slew of new fees. My move out and signage was verbally contingent of the agreement from both the assistant property manager, *************************, and regional ************************************, stating they would give us our deposit back. I spent zero days in my apartment. This week I received a check for $36 and some change of our promised $500 deposit. Being that any maintenance would have been caused by their failure to have the apartment to move in standard, I am now seeking the deposit, refund of all costs associated with **************** and compensation for costs associated with being unable to move into our apartment.
