If they complete your inspection and they find it is a good car, they may buy the car before sending you reports (if "buy now" is allowed). This sounds like my experience with this company. I found a stock with good "buy now" price at IAAI, but I needed to be sure of what was wrong with this car, so I requested their inspection service from my IAAI account on 06/01/2023, 9.09AM CST, same day "buy now" was activated on car (which would expire on 06/05/2023, 8.PM CST). They charged my credit card for this service immediately, and I hoped to receive a report within 2 business days as described in their "modus operandi." The only email I received from them was service request confirmation, the same day I requested their service. So, I called them on Monday June 5, 2023 at 6.15pm CST to get some information on the service I contracted to them but nobody answered, only to hear a pre-recorded message that I have called outside their business hours and that I should leave a message, which I did. While I was recording my message to them, an email came in from IAAI that the car in quest was sold via "buy now." In my opinion, I would suspect foul play (they probably found in the report that the car is a great deal), and they bought or sold out car information. I sent them an email on Monday, June 5, 2023 at 7:29 PM and it reads.... "Consequent on your inability to deliver the service requested of you, I demand a full refund of the total service charge to my credit card. Your service was to be completed within 2 business days as described in your "modus operandi." Unfortunately, this unit was just sold, while I was in the wait for report from you." At 9.40PM CST on Monday, June 5, 2023, I received an email from them stating "your report is now complete." This is the company I called 3 hours and 24 minutes earlier and a pre-recorded message indicated their business was closed for the day. They charged me for no service and will not refund. Be careful in dealing with them.

    CarInspector.US Response

    06/07/2023

First of all, CarInspector.US is not in the business of buying cars. In fact, we do not even have a buyer number or account to do so at this facility, so the assumption that we buy a car which we find to be "a great deal" is just not true. This customer ordered his inspection on June 1, 2023, 10:08 am. The inspection was dispatched to our inspector on June 1, 2023, 10:13 am. The first inspector was booked so it was re-dispatched on June 2, 2023, 3:44 pm with ETA of June 5th. The inspection was completed on June 5, 2023, 4:30 pm. The report was uploaded to our website and sent to the customer on June 5, 2023, 10:39 pm. We received notification from our bank on June 6, 2023, 9:52 am that the customer had disputed the payment for the inspection. The inspection was done within the promised 2 business days. Neither CarInspector.US nor the facility selling the car are open on weekends. It is true the customer called us and got voicemail, but the call was placed after our normal business hours. We are open M-F 9am-5pm EST. Even though our office is closed, the reports still go out after business hours. This is what happened here. The report went out to the customer at 10:39 pm that evening. As outlined in our terms, we gladly offer refunds in the event we are unable to complete an inspection within a reasonable timeframe. This inspection was completed and delivered within a reasonable timeframe. It is unfortunate this customer felt it necessary to leave a negative review and dispute the payment. The timing of the payment dispute makes one wonder if he ever intended to pay for our service in the first place.

    Customer Response

I have still not received any report copy in my email, as they promised and claimed in their comment to my review of experience with them (I only received email that "your service is now complete"). Their email further reads that I should click a link below to be transferred to their website to view report (with a warning "Notice: By clicking the link above, you are acknowledging your agreement to the CarInspector.US terms and conditions"). I do not know what their terms and conditions are... so I would not click a link like that. Their first email to me after payment states... "Once complete, a copy of the inspection will be emailed to this email address." Contrary to this, I do not have any report in my inbox still (I also checked my junk folder; it is not there). They claimed to have completed the service within the promised 2 business days (this is not true). Do they work 24 business hours/day? If yes, my service request was more than 48 business hours with them without fulfillments, before I called (on June 5, 6.15pm CST) and a voicemail read… “it was out of our business hours.” Business periods are hours you are obliged to be in service. I had the option of sending a request to them the night prior, but I waited to do that the next open business period, which was why I sent request on June 1, 2023; 9.08am CST. Thursday June 1, 9.08am CST was the first business day (you claimed to have started dispatching, minutes after you received my request); Friday and Monday were the 2nd and 3rd business days, respectively. I still maintain smelling foul play in this process. I should not have any problem with that, but they should not charge me for a service they did not provide. Before disputing charges with the bank, I had sent a refund request email to them. And I received four separate email responses from them, all stating the same message “your service request is now complete.” I am a businessman and believe every penny counts. I do not believe in paying for a service I did not receive.
