I own and manage a lot of commercial real estate. I have a commercial flat roof that was installed in 2017. It's 4 years old. It was put on and paid for by the previous owner. At the sale, it was relayed with the original roofing contract signed by the company and the previous owner of a workmanship warranty of 10 years. 4 years later this new roof is leaking. I called up the company to come and honor their workmanship warranty. I was told it's non transferable. I looked at the contract both signed by the owner and the company rep, paid in full with a receipt stamp on the contract and NO WHERE does it state the workmanship is non transferable. Instead they told me the roof passed permit inspection and there was a walk through inspection. I would never do business with a company that doesn't honor their workmanship warranty. A company that doesn't honor their work and warranty isn't a company you want to do business with.Winter Park Roofing, Inc. Response

We discussed with our original customer as well as stated on our workmanship warranty that the warranty is non-transferrable. This is standard practice in the industry UNLESS stated in the contract. The contract being referred to was with the previous owner and nowhere references transferring of warranties, our workmanship warranty given to to customer at the conclusion of the project CLEARLY states it is not transferrable.
The previous owner also let the buyer know that the workmanship warranty was not transferrable.This roof was also inspected by the County and passed all inspections. The inspections are a matter of public record and can be researched.
