4/6/22 I used aug 21 - tech installed a new A/C motor, and said it would be good for years. 4/5/22 asked for quote, a/c was not running correctly. i said to please give me a call with the issue before proceeding. #1 the tech did not call me - he gave tenants the observations #2 Tech proceeded to check unit, emptied existing refrigerant and check for leak, adding (he said) 5 lbs of refrigerant. All without giving me a quote for procedure - i was not given a cost or quoted cost for any refrigerant that would be needed to check the unit, nor was i given refrigerant cost per lb or approx. number of pounds it could need. tech went ahead and did test on unit and added freon. #3 He told me A/C would only be good for short while and that i needed a new A/C. i asked: then why did you proceed to do test, and add freon without quoting me 1st?.. he admitted he was wrong, and apologized, saying "i'm sorry, i said i was sorry". I called the office, they called him back to verify, and said i needed to pay either way. i asked for price of new unit and was told $4800, i would still need to pay for the test, including refrigerant. I asked why did your tech proceed without my authorization? - i never got a quote nor authorized him to do anything to my unit. Meanwhile another company quoted for bigger A/C for $3850 installed. i asked if Watts would match it. Office said: "no - that's the price, and you have to pay for the today's tech charge as well" I never received quote on work, or on freon. i never authorized tech to do anything on the unit without telling me the cost 1st. i just received a bill from Watts for $424 and was told that if i don't pay bill, she is sending it to collections. She rudely said "you just want a free service call - we will never do business with you again. i don't care if it hurts your credit, it's your problem. if you don't pay the bill, it's going to collections - you'll have to deal with them."
