07/31/2021 I had a concrete delivery in my property by Alpha Materials, after job was completed that day i paid Mr. ****** ****** (who was the one that gave me the estimate and did all the work), cash and a he gave me a receipt for the amount of $ 4000.00 for the completed job in full. On 09/20/21 I received a demand letter from Alpha Material saying that the concrete material who was ordered by a person whom I had never heard before. according to alpha Materials they tried to cover cost with two credit cards this person provided to pay and got denied and so they decided to go after me to pay, i never ordered directly from them i did not even knew them until i received the letter, the next very day I spoke with Mrs ****** ****** from Alpha Material asking for more time because i was not aware of this situation and I needed time to understand what was going on and they simply ignored my petition, I did not understand why I was being charged when i paid the job including materials this law in California was new to me and i was unfortunately unware until now. in 11/18/21 I received another demand letter to make a payment by 12/02/21 if not a lawsuit may be initiated , 12/01/21 i went to her office and paid the balance of $ 2153.00 , I may be wrong but the way i understood the civil law 8480, alpha material needs to send a Preliminary notice in 20 days and they can record a lien in my house in the period of 90 days, if a lien has not perfect filing this can be void, i believe Alpha Materials time line on filling paperwork surpassed the 90 days requirements. i am attaching a copy of the documents Alpha Materials sent me so you may look at the dates and hopefully help me resolve my case
