Did you know that protecting your identity is largely in your own hands? Fifty-six percent of identity theft victims traced the theft to something that was stolen from their own possession. So here’s the first rule: If you don’t need it, shred it – responsibly.
Your BBB is here to help! On Saturday, October 15th, Better Business Bureau, partnered with BelcoWorks, will host a free community event to help protect individuals from identity theft. Consumers and businesses are encouraged to bring any documents with personal and financial information to be commercially shred onsite. Shred up to 75 pounds (3 full paper boxes) for FREE with additional amounts at a fee of .15 per pound.
Event will be from 9:00 am – 1:00 pm in the Kroger’s parking lot in Warwood shopping plaza located at 1241 Warwood Ave, Wheeling, WV 26003.
E-cycling will also be available, with the following electronic items accepted: Batteries, Cable, Cell Phones, Circuit Boards, Computers, Game Consoles, Ink & Toner Cartridges, IT Equipment, Keyboards, Laptops, Mice, Modems, Monitors*, MP3 Players, Phone Systems, Printers, Routers, Satellite Boxes & Dishes, Servers, Speakers, Telecom Equipment, Televisions*, UPS Units, Video Games and Wire.
* $20.00 disposal fee for tube-style monitors and TV’s
There is no charge for this event; however monetary donations will be accepted for BelcoWorks Inc. The event will be held rain or shine.
