  On October 13, 2020, BBB conducted an investigation on Capital Lending Financial after a consumer brought forward concerns of the legitimacy of the business. The consumer detailed that they had applied for a loan through Capital Lending Financial and were approved. Although the business did not request and upfront loan fee, which is illegal in Canada, the business did however request that client was to accept money from the company and resend it back to them through Bitcoin. This request was made on two occasions in the amounts of $500 and $350.

  BBB sent the company a Standard Business Questionnaire in order to gather more detailed information from the business regarding their business structure and practices. To this day, no response has been received. BBB contacted District Realty, the property management group responsible for the commercial property of 1 Nicholas Street to confirm if Capital Lending Financial is a tenant of the building. District Realty confirmed that Capital Lending Financial is not a current or past tenant of 1 Nicholas Street. They had also informed BBB that several inquiries had been made to their office from the public seeking to confirm Capital Lending Financials' tenancy. 

  During BBB's investigative process, a search was conducted on the Government of Canada's federal incorporation website and on Canada's Business Registry website. In both searches, zero results were produced which concludes that Capital Lending Financial is neither federally incorporated or incorporated under provincial legislation. A search was conducted on the domain registry for the website through WHOSIS. The result indicated that the website was registered on 2020-08-10.

  As there is no listed phone number for the business on their website, and the business did not respond to the Standard Business Questionnaire, BBB has not been able to establish communications with Capital Lending Financial to determine a location of operation amongst other business details. Due to the lack of information on the business, BBB is unable to confirm the legitimacy of Capital Lending Financial and urges caution when considering doing business with a company whose contact details are sparse and whose physical location is unknown.
