I purchased a used car for the company on August 8, 2023. At the time the car had 76,538km on if; this was extremely low for a 2013. The company gave me an AMVIC vehicle check (attached) and said the vehicle was a great vehicle. I noted that it states they replaced the timing chain; which struck me as odd because a chain you typically do not replace (normally you replace a 'timing belt'). **** (the *******) told me that they fixed the issue. After about 5 weeks, I noticed an engine "ticking noise"...and called ******* (the extended warranty co.) and they said that seems odd that you have less than 500km and are having a problem that was not fixed upon purchase. Nonetheless, I went to their recommended mechanic, that tried several things, including taking the car to a factory dealership. The factory dealership confirmed that the engine was irreparable and was that way for some time. The warranty mechanic was finally able to get a used engine with about 82,000Km on it and replaced the engine on March 8, 2024. I believe Alberta Truck and Auto knew of this engine damage (hence the timing belt replacement) and did not disclose it on the AMVIC inspection (attached). The warranty company paid $4,200.00 towards the replacement of the used engine and I had to pay the remining $2,229.15. I am looking for the $2,229.15 AND the cost of my Warranty fee back. The Warranty I purchased has feature that if it is not used with the 4 years, I would be able to renew for something like $250 for another 4 years, BUT if you use the warranty in the initial 4 yr, the renewal option is removed. Given I have had to use that warranty, I have also lost the renewal option for the future. Also please note the care is lightly used, there is currently only 79, 834km on it.
