Computers - Software and Services

For most people, a computer is a necessity for everyday use.  Unfortunately, computers are not foolproof and when they malfunction it is important to get them fix properly and in a timely manner.  Ideally it is best to find a computer repair service before there is a major issue.  Use these helpful tips when searching for software or a trusted computer repair service.

Tips on Computer Software and Services:

Know The Business.  Ask family members and friends for computer service businesses that have provided a good experience in the past.  Browse through the Better Business Bureau website to check out accreditation, reviews, ratings, and complaints.  Look at the testimonials on the businesses’ website, as well as, other sites.  If all the testimonials are similar, it is likely that they are fake.  Do the same process when buying computer software from a business.

Contact The Business.   Call the business to test how easy they are to reach.  If the business does not answer the first time, make sure they call back within a reasonable time frame.  If there is no response by phone or email avoid doing business with them because this could be a clue to how their customer service is handled once they have your business.  Listen to how the business answers the call or email, if the business speaks in a professional manner it shows they are serious about their business.

Check the Website.  Since their business is all about computers their website should look professional and be updated with new technology.  If their website is poorly organized it may be a sign to take your business elsewhere.

Don’t Automatically Go for the Cheapest Price.  When it comes to your computer you want the job done correctly the first time.  Businesses with more experience may charge more for their services, but it will ensure that you are getting quality service for your money.

Look at Pricing.  Look for a business that charges based on the job rather than hourly.  This will allow the business plenty of time to work on the computer repair without being rushed.  If you are planning to buy a maintenance plan look for a plan without a long term contract.  This will prevent consumers from committing to a bad business, if they do not find the services up to par after the first repair.

Backup Your Files.  Before sending your computer to be repaired or loading new software, backup all your files incase there is a problem later.  Protect your computer from viruses by getting security software from a trusted business.  Set the security software to run and update automatically to best protect your computer.
