Whether your car is in need of a simple touch-up or a complete repaint, an auto body paint shop is helpful for the job. It is important to hire a reliable shop that can provide quality work that will last. Use these tips as a guide when searching for an auto body paint shop.

Tips for Find and Auto Body Paint Shop:

Ask for Suggestions.  Ask friends and family members who have had a positive experience at a particular shop for recommendations. Look through specialist trade magazines for shops in your area. Check out reliable auto body paint shops through Search for shops that belong to a reliable trade organization that are required to uphold to high quality standards. If insurance is covering the work, be sure to ask what shops they use in your area.

Visit the Shop.  Once you have compiled a list of auto body paint shops, pay a visit to their facility.  Look for shops that show professionalism and cleanliness. Quality shops will not be cluttered with equipment and tools laying around. The shop should look like a safe environment for the employees that are working.

Ask About the Paint Quality.  Select a business that uses safe water-borne color materials rather that isocyanate-based paints. Water-borne color materials are safer for the environment.

Ask for References.  Ask the auto body paint shop to provide a list of previous consumers who received a paint job similar to the one you are requesting. Contact a few of the references and ask to see the finished product. Carefully inspect the paint to see how the color matches and how colors are blended. See if the paint has held up over time.

Inquire About the Timeframe.  Ask the shop how long it will take to complete the job. Depending on the size of the project the length of time can greatly differ. Easier jobs should take up to a few days while a larger job, like an entire repaint, can take over a week. Be wary of shops that say the job will take an unusually short or long time. These shops may not provide the quality paint job you need.

Discuss Payment.  Before choosing a business ask a few shops to give you an estimate for the job. Do not automatically choose the lowest bid. Find a shops with a balance between quality work and reasonable pricing.

Ask About a Guarantee.  Often auto body paint shops offer a three to five year guarantee. A guarantee allows consumers to return to the shop to have the paint job repaired within the timeframe without the expense. Businesses that offer guarantees are often reliable because they will perform quality work the first time since it costs them time and money to repaint. Be sure to get the guarantee in writing.
