I am extremely upset with Sullivan Tire in Gloucester. Brought my 2013 ***** in for an oil change and find out after the oil change that the engine won't start. I am told a woman named **** would call me from ************ She never called, waited over 2 weeks. I was told it was a timing problem in the engine. I had to tow the vehicle to an engine specialist in ******* **, I was told that they ran the engine without oil in it. He said when he took the engine apart, there was no oil running through the oil filter, which is a clear sign that they forgot to put oil back in the car when they ran it. The engine is totaled! Sullivans response, it's odd the car came in running and seized after we changed the oil. Basically saying that I own the problem. The story details only get better but I will leave it at that.Sullivan Tire Co., Inc. Response

I just wanted to do a follow up of my original complaint. I must admit I was impressed that someone from Sullivan Tire responded. I heard from the Person at ************************* This process has been going on for over a month. An adjuster of theirs went and looked at the car within 2 days of the when I posted this complaint above. I can not believe how badly they are dragging their feet and trying to figure out any way they would not have to pay this claim. It is just unbelievable that we (************* Laws) let Insurance companies like this drag these cases on and not pay the claim. I have done everything these folks have asked of me and still they sit on this claim. My own company, Progressive, is almost as bad. You would think that Progressive would push this Insurer to pay the claim but they are only efficient at signing up new business and getting payments from their customers, everything else takes a back seat. You would think Sullivan Auto would want to avoid the bad press, apparently not.Review from Amanda S.

My oil pan was rusted and was replaced by Sullivan and it was not properly sealed, thus leaking oil and rendering my engine useless. I've been going there a long time and I've never had an issue.Sullivan Tire Co., Inc. Response

Had four new tires installed one went flat in only a week went back they said I had to get service plan for them to look at it got the service plan they then looked at the tire and said there was nothing wrong then five minutes later they came out and said there was a nail in the tire and said where it was it could not be patched and then said they didnt have the same tire in stock and could replace with a compatible tire same mileage and charge me 15 dollars got home looked up new tire they were wrong original tires have ****** miles the one that was put on only good for ****** will never go there againSullivan Tire Co., Inc. I highly discourage and warn anyone from going to any Sullivan Tire location. I brought my car that is practically new in for the state inspection. After waiting for a half hour just for them to bring the car in, I was told that my car would not pass inspection unless I got 2 new front tires. The employer told me the tires were almost bald and they had to order tires that would take almost a week to come in and that it would cost me over $600 to have the tires installed and aligned. I brought my car to another reputable local mechanic that I have used before who passed my car within 20 minutes without a mere mention of needing tires. In years past, I have gone to other Sullivan Tire locations and have had the same issue: being up sold on insignificant things my car does not actually need and essentially being taken advantage of. Sullivan Tire is an utter ripoff and buyers please beware of this disgraceful business.Sullivan Tire Co., Inc. Response

Sullivans had my car for 37 days and never fixed it. I brought my car into their shop in late January for a battery issue. After testing the battery and the alternator, they tell me the alternator needs to be replaced.A week goes by and I dont hear anything. I call to check in and they tell me that the part isnt available but theyre working on it. Since they cant find a part, they want to see if the specialist can fix it.I had no idea who this person was, what their training is, or if their work would be insured in the event they damaged the part. All of this happened without my knowledge or consent. Weeks start going by and when I call to express my concerns, I end up talking to a gentleman who completely dismissed **** start to stress at the 3 week **** big time. When I called to check-in, they had "phone problems" and I was hung up on 3x in a row. When I finally get through, I learn their specialist stopped returning their calls.The mechanic finally sent someone to retrieve the alternator last Wednesday. I was told the alternator would be tested and put into my car on Friday. Friday 4pm I call again and am told they are only testing the alternator now.Im told the alternator was working the whole time and that they misdiagnosed the issue. They tried to keep my car for longer to further diagnose the issue but I tell them that Im coming to pick it up.I brought it to another shop and the battery is tested at 353/600 CCA. Sullivans is either incompetent or they make stuff up to get more money. Never take your car here.Sullivan Tire Co., Inc. Response

Bought four new Sullivan tires 09/28/2019. Driver rear tire developed a slow leak last week, so I filled out the form online to schedule service for Thursday 12/09/2021: Alignment Check Rim Straightening(if needed), Tire Inspection and Pressure Check, Tire Repair, Tire Rotation. Included: "Tell us the symptoms - Lights, Tire Pressure"."Tell us the symptoms - Inspections, Visual Vehicle Check". Dropped car off at 6:55 am to leave until 6:00 pm same day. Called at 1:19 pm to check status and was told car would be ready by 5:00. Arrived about 5:40, car still on rack. Turns out NOTHING was done -- none of the requested services were even started! While I waited they then took tire off car and after 15 minutes said "pin hole in inside sidewall, can't fix, need new tire. This is NOT how you treat family! Should I go to ***** in Merrimack for a new tire and also pay for them to rotate tires? Really, really lousy way to treat customers. Very unhappy and will tell everyone!Sullivan Tire Co., Inc. I had an *** light pop up in my car, so i thought Id take it to Sullivan Tire in Newport to take a look. They told me that they could run a diagnostic and let me know what the problem was. They had my car for several hours and then called to tell me that they had run a diagnostic and took the liberty to do further investigations. They then quoted me $1,600 to fix the issue to which i wanted a second opinion. When i went to pick up my car, they required that i paid $154 for the diagnostic. Ive never been charged for a quote in the past and further, was never informed that I would charged for this. Had i know I would have been charged for a quote, i would have taken my car elsewhere. Needless to say, beware before taking your vehicle to Sullivan.Sullivan Tire Co., Inc. Response

Amin, Thank you for providing feedback on your experience and giving us an opportunity to address your concerns. As part of our operating procedure, the service advisors explain the cost of our computer diagnostics at $145 per hour prior to diagnosing a customers vehicle. We investigated your concern and confirmed that the explanation was provided and cost disclosed for (1) hour of diagnostics, shop supply ($8.70) and tax and a customer signature was captured. Our technician investigated multiple lights, which were triggered by the ** ABS Sensor. The diagnostic charge is a separate service and is not deducted from the quoted suggested repairs including the R/R axle ($1,243.42), if the R/R axle is not needed, the quote would be reduced by $263.00. We are sorry to hear of your disappointment in our pricing and procedure. I was there and can assure you the $145 diagnostic fee was never disclosed before the service was performed. No fee was ever disclosed until I was shocked with the **** when I went to retrieve my car.
