Tuesday 6/27 dropped 2018 VW Atlas off to have water pump replaced. . On the *********************************************************** warning lights came on. Next day quoted $900 to replace water pump, told them to go ahead. Same day called and recommended replacing valve cover gasket quoting $1,100 told them to go ahead. Later called said there was a broken rocker arm and cam and head needed to be replaced. Service manager told me he didnt see how it was possible because the computer did not show any error codes. Said would check with VW rep to see what they would cover. Thursday 7/6 service rep called to say VW would cover the coast of parts I would need to pay labor over $2,800.- Asked to have the service manager call me. Service manager called me back. I first thanked him for getting the parts covered but didnt feel right having to pay $2,800.- in labor cost. I said the car was running fine when I dropped it off and I had done a lot of research and nothing said this was possible. Things went downhill quickly. He said if you are implying that we did anything to cause the rocker are to break off he was not going to have that conversation. He offered to put the valve cover on and come drive the car to show that the light might not come on. For all I know he could set things up so the warning light wouldnt appear. I also dont feel it would be a good idea to drive the car without the rocker arm as it could cause more damage. He asked me what I wanted to do and I said I needed to think it over and call VW advocacy. He said he needed an answer quick because he was not a storage yard.I never said they caused the problem, but it is possible that the rocker arm came off during gasket replacement and when they started the car heard the engine noise took off the valve cover to discover the problem and damage. Conversation was way too defensive. This definitely doesnt feel right!This is the firs time I can recall ever filing a written complaint in my life.
