7/6/2015 100% terrible company with shady business practices. Remember, Insurance companies make no money if they pay claims so they will look for ANY and ALL reasons to deny you, especially Liberty Mutual. My sewer line backed up during a particularly bad rain storm. I only found out after the fact that I did not have coverage for this. Ok, fine. Nothing I can do about it except make sure I get coverage for this (with another company, NOT LM). But what has me so mad is that when I called to file the claim, the LM representative told me to call water mitigation and gave me 3 companies to try. She said to give the company my claim # and they would take care of the bill. Me, being a new homeowner and never having experienced anything like this before, foolishly believed she was telling the truth. So I called water mitigation and had the problem cleaned up. Only to find out later that they denied they ever said that. They claimed the pulled the call and they are right and I am wrong but refuse to let me listen to the call. I would have to file suit against them just to be able to listen to the call for myself. Do yourself a favor and record any call you make to them yourself. So now I'm stuck with the bill for a service they said they would pay for. I am so hopping mad at this company and will never do business with them again. I've been a faithful customer for many many years and this is how they respond in a crisis? They take an already stressful/terrible situation and make it 100 times worse. They don't care about anything except the almighty dollar. They LIE and every time I see a commercial or ad for them, my blood pressure sky rockets and I want to punch the TV. TERRIBLE COMPANY.

10/13/2014 I signed up with Liberty Mutual in 2010 with agreed rate of 688.00 monthly. My policy now in 2014 is 1276.00. This is without any claims. Was told my insurance went up due to increasing cost of building material. But I didn't file a claim and the value of my home went down not up. So disappointed. I'm now searching for another insurance company.

7/11/2013 I have had my autos and home under Liberty Mutual for over 20 years, quietly enduring the frequent price increases thinking that customer loyalty could be worth something in the future. Then in the spring of 2013 I receive notice under both home and auto to sign a waiver permitting Liberty Mutual to charge more than allowable North Carolina rate for parts of my coverage. Spoke with Liberty Mutual rep, but their response was basically, Sign, or we will cancel coverage - We can do this because we can. No claim event was cited as reason or cause. That pushed me over hassel factor to find new insurance coverage (at about 30% savings). Then Liberty Mutual rewarded me for my 23 years of service by charging a hefty 1 1/3 months cancellation fee on my auto insurance refund (I pay the annual premiums in full). Again, I contacted Liberty Mutual for an explanation on how refund was calculated. Response was that it was complicated and waas based upon total fees and months remaining on contract. Rep said that actuary department would review and send me explanation. When I voiced my frustration that one and a third month cancellation penalty seemed high for having cancelled 3 months into the annual policy, rep restated that North Carolina permits short rate cancellation penalties. I responded that "permitting" does not mandate that Liberty Mutual charge that amount and could I speak with someone about getting that reduced to a prorated charge for services used plus a paperwork fee. The response was Liberty Mutual could not do that. Invest your loyalty with another insurance company - avoid Liberty Mutual.
