On the date of 10-20-2023 to 10-21-2023 I stayed at a hotel in Gonzales Louisiana called Highland Inn. I'm not from Louisiana I was in town to attend my brother's funeral service. I stayed here one night and encountered the following events the front lobby is permanently closed you can't access it you must check in and out in a small window area and ring a doorbell until somebody decides to come answer it, when walking in my room there was a gagging smell of mildew and mold, the phone in my room was disconnected and did not work so if you need to call the front desk you will have to use your personal cell phone, multiple cigarette burns in the comforter bedding, large white stains in the carpet on the floor, a uncountable amount of disgusting stains everywhere floor/walls/bedding, you pay for 1 TV channel that is all you get, WIFI doesn't work, I was blow drying my hair after my shower and a breaker blew so I had no electricity in half of my room including the AC it was 90 degrees that day when I used my cell phone to call the front lobby when they finally answered the lady stated it wasn't the hotel's fault that they were working on it. I couldn't sleep because I was so uncomfortable because it had got so hot in my room. It was 5 hours later in the middle of the night that it was finally fixed and the AC came back on, serious property damage in my room see photos, after getting out of the shower I seen something behind the toilet when I looked I discovered a used needle syringe!! When I checked out the next morning I told a male employee that I had found a used needle syringe behind the toilet in my room and his response was 'okay'. This is by far the most reckless and unsanitary facility I have ever frequented in my entire life. It's terrifying to think that families with children could stay here knowing that I found a used syringe during my hotel stay. I do not seek resolution with this business I feel obligated to report because something needs to be done.
