I am writing this because I have tried to be kind and patient with the people at Emerson Carpet. However I have sat here in my home in a turmoil for months. After have incorrect type of carpet from Emerson installed in my home almost 2 years ago (had plastic backing causing all moisture to stay in the pad) that cost me thousands). They did talk to manufacturer and agreed to re install another type of carpet at their “cost” for thousands more! Carpet then came in short of feet due to someone in their office making a numerical mistake. Well, no more dye lot to match….so agreed to put down vinyl plank in my back room since carpet color would not match and would make me area rugs out of left over carpet…at no extra cost to me. I was assured that my back room wood vinyl flooring was already ordered and due in 12-5-2023. I was told that they were already making the area rug out of the piece of carpet left over so it wouldn’t “get lost”. a month later....BUT then they assured me that they could get a dye lot soooo close I wouldn’t notice. Trying to be agreeable I let them order it in. I have now had my home torn up for over 2 months waiting for vinyl plank flooring and then being told the carpet would match, waited longer. I have now paid $15,000 for first round of carpet and now I have paid $9500 for the second round and they want me to accept a mismatched carpet due to their error in ordering and I am supposed to be happy about this. In the desire not only to be reasonable and to get this over with I let them put the mismatched carpet in. I also had told one of the owners that I wasn’t going to have any more money due from me with all of this going on and she agreed. It would have cost them MUCH more to put the planking in my back room than the carpet I allowed them to install in the goodness of my heart. I already had them put down the planking in my kitchen area. Now at the end of the job, they are saying that I have to honor the balance of the job ($1200) not allowing me any grace at all on this balance after the mismatched job I have received on the carpet. And being in a turmoil for months! I have been told by the owner that they will place a lien upon my home if I don't pay them immediately….after me waiting for them for months and they were already paid $16,000! Also, I am 85….I do not need this kind of stress and dealing with them has my blood pressure soaring. I have documented all transactions for the past 2 years and have witnesses of the situation. I honestly do believe that I am due some consideration. I have asked twice to see a signed copy of the contract and I’ve not gotten one. I have paid both of the signed contract copies that I have.
