Only after I persisted in contacting him did he finally show up to do my roof at the end of October. They removed my ridge vent and didn't replace it without informing or asking me. ********** **** Scotia tested and modified my attic space this summer with a ridge vent in place. He said he didn't care what ********** **** Scotia thinks. They barely put any tar around my chimney and then he told me it wasn't their responsibility to tar around the chimney. They didn't put a row of starter shingles on the back of my roof so now my gutter isn't getting all the water and its leaking in behind my face plate. He told me that the starter strip is not supposed to come out over the drip edge. He also told me that shingles don't shrink with time. They didn't inspect or replace any of the face plates. Generally, we do not tar around chimneys because there is flashing around it. Furthermore, regarding the start date, that was how far he was on a very long list of jobs that had been submitted prior to his. I did respond to him, to try to communicate this to him. Inspection if fascia was not a part of his contract, as there was aluminum over it. Mr. ********* failed to mention that his repair was a Nova Scotia Housing grant. Nova Scotia Housing sends their own inspector to inspect jobs contracted by them, I’ve been in business a long time and we never overhang the first shingles over starter strip due to wind. His previous shingles were not overhanging as well. His ridge vent was removed and I told him it wasn’t being replaced because his eaves are closed off with plywood and they have to be open for ridge vent to work. If he doesn’t remember this, it may be due to the fact that he was heavily intoxicated with marijuana during the entire three days my crew was working there. He is upset only because I removed my crew from the job site due to Mr. *********** conduct or he hadn’t had his marijuana at the time. There has never been any complaint from anyone during my entire time in business regarding shingles not overhanging and if they had been overhanging, there would have been a complaint about that as well.
