This company ran a scan on me on Dec 28, 2022. When they called they said they were agents for the student loan forgiveness plan. I was skeptical and asked if they were DIRECTLY working with the Fed Loan program and the answer was "we represent the loan forgiveness plan and can work with you to process your application" I kept at them to provide how they got my number and they responded from the Fed Loan system or something to that effect. I had applied on line at on my Fed Loan account for the loan forgiveness program and for a teacher forgiveness application. I asked them several times if they are calling me in response to my applications and the answer was we represent the student loan forgiveness program which can be implied as a "yes" Somehow they had access to my loan information and amount and I took this as access by a government agent who had legal access to my account. After much debate I felt that this was what I was hearing about on TV and the radio and it was legitimate. I made a payment of $239.00 on the basis they were honest with what they presented. I was told that I would get a call back in a week with the final step in processing this application. When I received an email from Fed Loan that the loan payments will be suspended until May 1, 2022 I realized that something was wrong and I called American Credit and insisted on who they were. I asked as I did before if they were the sole agent selected by Fed Loan to process their loans and again I was given "we represent the student loan forgiveness program." I pushed further and after a continued repetition of this line, I said that I will not process this any further and to return my payment of $239.00. They were miss leading from the get go. I consider their process as fraudulent. They were intentionally misleading from beginning to my ending it. The rhetoric they used was evasive and misleading.
