I have never been a patient of Woolfson, yet I received a bill and notification that my insurance had been billed and treatment on July 21, 2023. Phone calls to the clinic provided no answers. I then wrote to Dr. ******** Woolfson, the principal of the organization that bears his name. No response. I wrote a second time, still no response. It is now mid November and no one at Woolfson seems able or willing to account for this situation.

Hello, my name is ******. I made an appointment four months ago.. I went in for my exam then I was told to had to pay a portion. of my procedure . and the other portion my insurance would be responsible for. I made my payments and right before one week before surgery . the coordinator by the name of ***. lied to me and told me that my insurance did not approve my claim . My insurance gave me an authorization number. and told me they did authorize the procedure.. I confronted her about the situation. Then she she gave me different information. and told me that the doctor was not in net work.. she told me Other another doctor. in the same facility that did take my insurance. I dont understand that. I I believe they did we really wrong by wasting my time. I had made arrangements . Do you have a designated driver to take me and bring me back. I paid in advance and I was not able to get a refund from my driver I made three partial payments, to the Institute and during that time . not one time she mentioned anything about the doctor being in net work I believe that was very. unprofessional . and they shouldnt waste patients time and before setting the first appointment, they should make sure that the doctor is network before a person makes an appointment Gets eye exam pays and waits approximately four months. I thought I would share my experience and make aware of others. Thank you for giving me the opportunity of expressing myself and sharing my experience.

Title ******* Eye Institute: Do No Harm... Oops!Description On May 25, 2021, my wife went to the ******* Eye Institute in *******, Ga., for her follow-up exam dealing with leaking internal veins in both eyes. Then she would be referred to a low vision center that would proscribe glasses to correct her farsighted vision problems. On that afternoon before the Ophthalmologist makes his examination, the assistant comes into the exam room to update their notes in a folder of papers, the electronic tablet device, and then check the patients eye pressure. I always accompany my wife in the exam room because of her vision problems. When the assistant placed the numbing drops into my wifes eyes, my wife noticed that the assistants finger got under the upper eyelid when raising the lid to apply the numbing drops. I could not see that procedure because I was sitting on a chair behind the examination char. However, I did notice that the assistant used the tonometer attached to the slit lamp exam table instead of using the small portable hand-held tonometer which was always used by other assistants. The assistant cleaned the tonometer device after testing my wifes eye pressure and not before; I thought that procedure reversal was unusual? Also, prior to the assistant examining my wifes eyes, the assistant did not wash her hands or apply any disinfectant hand cleaner from one of those packets on the side table. Also, the assistant did not use the disposable gloves available on the side table either. After touching the door ****, the folder and papers, the electronic tablet device, the eye exam room instrumentation, and the inside of my wifes left upper eyelid; her examination was done. Then the ophthalmologist came into the exam room, reviewed the papers, asked my wife some questions, and examined her eyes with the slit lamp device. Now she is ready to get glasses to deal with her far sighted condition. The next morning when my wife awakened, she noticed that she had some difficulty opening and seeing with her left eye and that it was painful. With things not getting better on Saturday May 29 th during the Memorial Day weekend, I contacted the Ophthalmologist through the ******* Website and he prescribed medicated eye drops. We were able to get the prescription filled on a Tuesday after the holidays. After several more days using the medicated eye drops and not help or curing the pain or swelling. I took my wife back to ******* in ******* on June 7, 2021, and was initially told that she could not be seen because she did not have an appointment, and her doctor was at another location and we could go there. I told them that we were NOT going anywhere until my wife could be examined by any eye doctor available in this facility! We waited about 1 1/2 hours and finally my wife was seen by an ophthalmologist. He proscribed a different type of medicated eye drops and referred her to a Cornea Specialist at ******* later that week.By the time we got to see the Cornea Specialist, my wifes left eye was swollen so bad that it was completely shut and it looked like an Iguana lizard eye, and there was a light yellowish/green puss coming out of both sides of her left eye. When her left eye was opened it was completely covered with the puss, and when the puss was wiped away; her eye was completely blood red with a moon shaped yellow crescent scar situated below the pupil. The infection was spreading into the cornea and clouding it. Upon examination, the cornea doctor said that her left eye cornea was scratched and infected. Now, this takes me back to my wifes May 25 th appointment where the ******* assistant contaminated my wifes eyes, and scratched her left cornea by applying too much pressure on her left cornea with the slit lamp attached tonometer. If you measure the yellowish moon shaped crescent scar below the pupil on my wifes left cornea, and then compare it to the tonometer devices outside diameter; its a match!December 12, 2021, After dozens of appointments, procedures, and prescriptions, the scar and the infection still remain. My wife got a new prescription this week, and has a follow-up appointment for Monday December, 13th .My wifes pain and suffering was caused by the ******* Eye Institute assistants negligence, but this issue has been a real money making proposition for the business. My wifes ******** Advantage Plan has paid out thousands of dollars for office visit procedures, and we have paid well over a thousand dollars for deductibles, copays, and prescriptions, and we are not finished yet!We have talked with the ******* manager at the ******* location, and she had escalated our complaint to the ******* Eye Institute administrator. We were told that ******* Eye Institute would be contacting us directly with a response. However, it has been several weeks and we have heard nothing...
