We have received a multitude of small bills from this company for running labs for my wife during her two pregnancies. We understand that this is part of the healthcare process. Our issue arises from a bill that we paid ($3.08) and were charged a processing fee ($3.99) that was more than the actual bill. It was, as I said, a small bill ($3.08), but, after attempting to call them at times that we were available during the day, and then following the only link that is on the statement that they sent us (pathgroup.mysecurebill.com), we were charged this processing fee. After receiving another bill, we went back to the website to pay this second bill, and noticed some discrepancies (one was something we were charged twice for ($46.13), and the other was the website showing the original charge ($3.08) still being owed) we called in to their customer service. The lady was polite and told us it may be showing charges that were still being processed, but she did not know why the charge ($3.08) was still showing nor why we were charged a processing fee. After emailing her our bank statement showing the payment, she said it may have been another company that collects money for them, but does charge a processing fee. She said she needed to verify with her manager, and upon returning to the call, immediately told us that Pathgroup does not charge processing fees and that the company that collected our payment is not associated with them. We kept asking questions to figure out how we ended up on a website not associated with Pathgroup when all we had access to was a bill from Pathgroup. We told her that we expect to pay more bills through this company so we want to know how to avoid processing fees if we cannot reach them by phone. She put us on hold a few more times and eventually told us that she could no longer speak to us and hung up. We are now worried that there is something shady going on with this company or that we were somehow scammed by going to a url from their bill.
