We called Century Link on 4/16 to inquire about service in our area as it appeared they had fiber in our area. ******* said they were in our area and signed us up however the prices did not match the website and we noticed they had different kinds of internet so we called back to verify. This time they told us they dont have fiber in our area only regular internet, we told them we thought we were discussing fiber and are not interested in regular internet and would like to cancel. They told us we needed to call a 3rd party, Earth Link, to cancel. We did not know they signed us up with another company. We have spent over 2 straight hours just trying to speak to someone at EarthLink to cancel. They continue to transfer us, disconnect the line, and leave us on hold. They disconnected their chat before assisting us as soon as their 6pm deadline hit. I have waited on hold for over an hour after telling the reps the line continues to disconnect and I need to speak to someone who can cancel our service. I cant find an email to contact and as of writing this I have waited 40+ minutes for help on their text line (our 6th attempt at speaking to someone). Century link signed us up for service without clear a explanation of their service options despite them knowing they have different types people may be interested in and limited on. They lacked accountability in supporting us with the 3rd party we were unknowingly signed up for. The 3rd party, EarthLink has (seemingly) intentionally made it difficult to cancel their service that I already have a pending charge for. I can take accountability for not explicitly saying we want fiber (truly dont recall if we did) but I am frustrated with the lack of accountability from these companies. Waiting 3+ hours just to have a means to cancel a service is absolutely unacceptable. I feel deceived by these internet providers and regret doing any form of business with them.
