I was in IOP at centered recovery about a year ago. At the time, I didnt feel others could feel how I did. I remember when I was discharged, being told to call if I ever needed help. I didnt think that was a genuine so I buried it away in my memory banks as an automated response. However, to my surprise.. I needed a little guidance, and I remembered that offer over a year ago. And I called. Someone I recognized picked up and we spoke for 25 minutes. I am very thankful for the individuals at Centered for having my back always.Review from Alex W

I have been involved in a couple of different approaches to recovery - I can truly say that Centered's approach has easily been the best and most effective for me. It would not be an exaggeration to say that the ideas and teachings I have learned here have been life changing. Unlike other (e.g. 12 step) approaches to recovery that teach the individual to view themselves as an addict, the curriculum that **** and team have put together focus on the underlying processes and mechanics that are at the root of all addictions. A surprisingly little amount of time is actually spent talking about addiction directly, because the program is more broad and provides clients with a holistic new way of being in the world. Recovery from addiction is a natural secondary effect from this learning, but clients can expect to see meaningful improvements in nearly every aspect of their lives on their path to a life of greater peace and ease. The curriculum draws from numerous sources and is not dogmatic or limited by orthodoxy. Meditation, mindfulness, and a better understanding of one's true "self" stand out as cornerstones of the approach at Centered. I recommend Centered, without caveat, to anyone struggling with addiction, behavioral challenges, or mental health issues.Review from Jennifer G

While I am not personally enrolled in this program, someone very close to me is. I thought it may be helpful to post a review from a different perspective - from the perspective of the "loved one of an alcoholic." This program's healing benefits don't just stop at the person enrolled. It has had a transformative butterfly/ripple effect throughout our lives as a family unit. Through instilling the practices of presence, awareness and self-love, my loved one has found a sense of inner peace and has become more centered and grounded; being thankful in the sacredness of each and every moment. Much appreciation and heartfelt gratitude to the Centered Recovery Team!Review from Jason

The recovery community is dominated by a notion that addiction is a spiritual malady that must be repressed and controlled throughout life with rigorous study, meeting attendance, sponsorship, and more. While I will not try to convince otherwise someone for whom a 12 step program works in restoring a healthy and meaningful existence, this approach is not for everyone. Some balk at the requirements, both real and perceived, of a 12 step program and never get past the door. Others make extended, sincere efforts to engage but find themselves unable to make lasting progress within the 12 steps. For individuals in this situation, the near universally held belief that ______ Anonymous groups are the only path to recovery can be crushingly demoralizing. The thought may arise, "If this path is the only hope then perhaps for me there is no hope." I found myself in this devastated situation having engaged the 12 steps through sincere and extended efforts but no closer to lasting sobriety that allowed me to live life healthfully as I chose and without harming those I love. Extended efforts to find another path thankfully led me to Centered Recovery. In talking with Reed before intake, I became hopeful for the first time in years that I could conquer my addiction. Further, I understood that the program would not focus on putting one's trust in an external power but rather in recognizing thoughts, emotions, and behaviors and through understanding oneself achieving a state of greater control. The gift of Centered Recovery comes in learning that recovery can be built from within by understanding thoughts and emotions are not you. A thought to drink or use, no matter how deviously clever, or an emotion, regardless of how cripplingly powerful, need not govern one's actions or alter one's equanimity. Our society reinforces a belief that thoughts and emotions are the essence of who we are and predetermine how we will act in the world. Centered has taught me a different way of understanding that frees me from destructive cycles of action that I had come to think inevitable. Learning through the lens of Centered, a person is exposed to a view of the self and our actions in the world that is shockingly simple. The baseline perspective is indeed so uncomplicated that it can be hard to digest. From the beginning, I began to sense the program was providing structure to understanding of the self and my actions that I intuitively knew as a child but let go of under the influence of societal teachings and my own thought and emotion heavy path in adulthood. I was reminded of what I had known and given a framework to consider and discuss it. Consistently, I have observed at Centered clients struggling to grasp the message but over time having it click in their understanding. Not only does this allow cessation of harmful substance use but often bears other beautiful gifts such as the removal of painful burdens such as anxiety, anger, resentment, paranoia, and other psychological pain. Clients report resolution of problem behaviors, mental health difficulties, and frustrations in their lives that seem not directly related to addiction and that they had no hope would be addressed when they first walked through the door at Centered Recovery. Such transformation would be beneficial for many in our society even without issues of substance abuse. However, it is often only reaching a rock bottom that opens the mind to the need for change. A further gift in this approach to sobriety and heightened equanimity is that it does not require daily struggle to maintain. The understanding is both simple and profound and once internalized universally applicable in living a healthier life.Centered Recovery Programs, LLC Response

What a touching and beautifully written testimony of your experience at Centered! We often see clients have "resolution of problem behaviors, mental health difficulties, and frustrations in their lives that seem not directly related to addiction and that they had no hope would be addressed", as these things are simply by-products of understanding yourself. We are so thankful you trusted us on your journey and have loved getting to know your story. Thanks for being a part of our Centered community, you're always welcome with us!Review from Mike A

It's been well over a year since completing Centered, here is my take:
After decades of substance abuse, I turned to the team at Centered for their guidance and support. It wasn't easy to admit that I was broken and that my abuse had taken a significant toll on my physical/mental health, career, and meaningful relationships. I was steps away from the precipice of taking my own life due to my addiction, I was very sick and I hid it very well, I'm forever indebted to the exceptional people at Centered.
My introduction to Centered began with Reed, he clearly outlined the program and shot straight with me from day one, noting that the process wasn't going to happen overnight - there is no 'magic pill' to recovery. Reed is the type of no bull-**** you want to hear from when embarking on making a meaningful change in your life. He merely suggested that committing to being an active participant in the process was my opportunity to learn a new viewpoint as it related to my major substance issues and how to overcome these challenges. At that time, little did I know that I'd learn so much more about myself, how to manage recovery, and how to think through my thoughts-to remain sober. Reed's discussions are amazing - words cannot begin to explain his ability to share a simplistic concept of thought and how it can be translated/viewed/perceived. His friendly and kind demeanor is his key to being such a great facilitator. Upon my introduction to Reed, he took the time to have multiple conversations with my wife to ensure she was okay as well as making sure I was getting the help I so desperately needed.
My next interaction at Centered was with Colin, he facilitated my intake after my stint at a local detox. Colin is an amazing man - he himself, admittedly had worked with Reed to recover from similar challenges. He was instrumental in getting me situated with the program and resources Centered provides to its clients, from scheduling to program topics. Since I've arrived at Centered he's checked in on me, made sure I was tracking with the discussion topics, and has been my go-to resource when I'd get stuck during the healing process. I know he doesn't know it all - nor does he claim to - but you'd be hard-pressed to find another resource who has been in your shoes and had a similar thought, feeling or reactions during the healing process. He has introduced me to countless concepts, ideas, and tools to support me during this journey. He'll engage with you as a human being, with an honest intent to help you through the darkest of times. He pushes you when you need a push - he also lets you have the space you need to heal and grow.
I've spent countless hours with both of these gentlemen and can say they'll be a part of my life going forward. They've guided me on a journey I never thought I could embark on.
Look - I've read these reviews before I was ready to make the change, for years! I'm writing one now that I never thought would happen. I am a real person who can tell you that Centered truly saved my life, my marriage, my career - all the while helping me grow as a person. I've had people come up to me and say 'give me some of what you're on' and for the first time in my life - being free and clear from substances, I'm not on anything other than a path to freedom from the toxicity of addiction.
Seize this opportunity - stretch your mind, it's so resilient you'll astound yourself and anyone who knows you.
You CAN do it - and when you chose to do it, let Centered help - this team of amazing people can help you find your way to a better life and the freedom you deserve.
