BBB Announces Torch Award Winners

The Better Business Bureau announced winners of the Torch Awards for Ethics at its 16th annual celebration of the awards on Thursday night.
The 2017 Torch Award winners are:
Small Business: Gary’s Heating and Air Conditioning, Inc.
Large Business: Phillips 66 Pipeline, LLC
Nonprofit Category: United Way of Amarillo & Canyon
“These are the companies that continually work to do the right thing,” said Janna Kiehl, BBB CEO. The winners recognized their employees as being at the core of their success. "The values set forth in the TRUST! Principles are what these companies practice every day,” said Kiehl. “The awards are not about the perfect, they are about working daily to make business better.”
The winners were selected from entries submitted by companies of all sizes. Judges are independent of the Better Business Bureau board of directors and staff.
This year’s Excellence in Community Service Award recipient is Jimmy Lackey, President, Kids Incorporated. The Excellence in Community Service Award is given to an individual who has shown unfailing dedication to serving the community and brings the core values set forth by the BBB to their everyday practices.
2016 Students of Integrity were also recognized at the awards. The SOI recipients were honored at their high school awards ceremonies last spring. The 2016 Student of Integrity Scholarship Award winners are:Catie Fangman, Vega High SchoolMadeline Kay Jensen, Tascosa High SchoolDanica Faith Ruiz, San Jacinto Christian AcademyWilliam Schueler, Hereford High School
The 2017 Students of Integrity Awards are currently in process and winners will be announced in the spring 2017.
