It was my first time at this shop. After a simple repair, my car was returned to me with check engine light on. Rude unprofessional response from staff when I reported it. Brought it back 2-days later. Their diagnostic machine apparently suddenly showed my catalytic converter "not operating optimally." I attempted to find out why shop never said a word previously. Owner did not answer. Instead, he walked outside, got in my car, & took it on a 30-min test drive, without my permission! (The car should NOT have been on the road with engine light on. Plus, I would never have consented to any test drive, due to insurance.) But this guy demonstrated did not care one bit about my property. Instead, owner arrived back from 30-min. test drive, reporting "the engine light is now off." First, I asserted he did not have permission to take car. He said "Then go somewhere else for future repairs." Second, I inquired how engine light was suddenly "off." He gave a vague answer, as if the car somehow "magically" fixed itself on the 30-minute test drive. Then he provides me with a written estimate for a new catalytic converter, KNOWING that it could literally be any one of a hundred inexpensive things, to cause the diagnostic 'converter not optimally performing.' He went right for the most expensive thing. Luckily, I am a trained mechanic. (Kept that to myself). I tried this shop as back up. I recognized this guy had erased the diagnostic code during his 30-min test drive of my car. Erasing codes causes the engine light to shut off and reset. At home, I put my car on a diagnostic. (Car keeps a record of all past bad codes.) Sure enough, I saw that the owner had indeed erased the codes during his 30-minute test drive. I believe it was done in an attempt to sell me a new catalytic converter. Or some other weird reason. Other damage caused to my car by this shop is possible. Car has a new hesitation as well. Verifying now. Owner and staff unbelievably uncooperative and rude.

This lady who has many alias for what ever reason, called me the first of February to check on repairs that had been previously serviced a couple of times by the previous owners. Graciously provided the details of those repairs for her information, also at this time she mentioned that she would like to have oil leak checked out. We agreed on appointment for Saturday 02/07/2023 morning. She arrived on that Saturday to get leak checked so I wrote up service and assigned to tech. After checking found leak at transmission cooler lines and radiator connection. Nissan used a section of cooler line made of synthetic hose that had deteriorated over time. I gave her an approximate price to repair that she agreed on. When the car was finished I pull car around to her so she could pay and take her car. She didn't mention anything about a check engine light on before she left and I didn't notice one at the time of delivery to her. Check engine lights are something that we are very observant of when delivering to customer. She could have called or come back by since we still had 4 hours of working time on that Saturday. So she called on Monday and I visited with her about light being on and told her that we would be glad to check out and that we may have cause the light to come on if the tech had unhooked or knocked something loose. She wanted to come in on Thursday to have it checked out. Upon arrival she was greeted and we had tech who had worked on car on Saturday to recheck. He found no signs of visual problem of anything loose or disconnected. He hooked up scan tool to check for code that caused engine light to come on, code was a P0420 which signals a low catalyst system efficiency. He inform me of the code so since this is a code that can be tricky to check and has to be driven to check operation of the 2 Oxygen sensors to monitor its performance. I took car on road test and on return this lady informed me of her not approving of me road testing her car with out approval. I informed her that if she didn't approve of me road testing car to resolve her issue that I was probably not the shop that needed to be working on her car. Trust works both ways! After our discussion of the problem she had with car light I drew a chart showing how the 02 sensors work and inform computer of information to check Catalytic converter. I explained that I reset computer so she could drive it and see if it would reset before any repairs would be needed. She asked for an estimate for repairs if it needed replaced. This was the last conversation that we had. She has since filed lawsuit then dropped it and now posting review on this situation. Our Motto has always been Kill'em with kindness! Sorry It did"t work this time. Also she says no certifications as a Graduate of Amarillo College and years of ASE Master Tech. Have many more over the years.
