In my estimation, the ranch itself was as advertised; the accommodations were as expected, rustic, clean and more than adequate to our needs. Morning hunts were dismal, and a waste of time, but there were plenty of animals to shoot at in the evenings.

The low score I have given is because I am so disappointed in ***** for not being more upfront with me about our crossbow hunting prospects, and especially for him being dishonest with me about why he "couldn't" (wouldn't) allow me to search for my last kill in the daylight. He began our trip by stressing his "respect" for the hogs ("They get a bad rap from the media", "don't shoot into a group", "don't shoot wet sows"), but when it comes to not leaving wounded or killed animals to rot in the field, he showed no respect for the animals or the hunters. I have never seen or heard anything like that from any warden, landowner, or hunter before this.

My conclusion is that ***** is a hog farmer who only has respect for the profits of his business, and I, for one, **** do all I can to warn others that this is no place for archers or real hunters.

I'm sorry that Mr. ****** wasn't happy with our customer service. This was a negative experience for him as well as the staff at Dos Plumas. Unfortunately, businesses have no platform in which to review their customers so again, we appreciate the forum in which to respond.

I believe we went far and above in tracking and attempting to retrieve his animals each night which is not mentioned in his review. Mr. ****** ultimately was not happy as we would not allow his group to stay an extra morning after his hunt ended and continue to track. We already had another group in camp who, just like his group, booked the ranch to just themselves.

Many archery as well as "real" (as he mentions) hunters are successful at Dos Plumas. In fact, we have had several wild hogs harvested with a bow in just the past few days as evidenced by photos on our website of successful hunters.
It should be noted that we ended up retrieving one of Mr. ********* wild hogs two days later which unfortunately, was gut shot.

At the end of the day, it's up to the hunter to know his limitations as well as the limitations of their weapon of choice and make a good, clean shot. Obviously, we cannot control that.

We do wish Mr. ****** well and hope he enjoys his next outdoor adventure!
