Consumers in Northern Colorado and Wyoming report receiving callsfrom the IRS regarding issues with their tax returns along with instructions to call a certain number to avoid legal action. The call - at least according to Caller ID, which can be easily "spoofed" - claims to originate out of Washington D.C.

BBB advises that the IRS does not contact consumers by phone or email. If there is an issue with a tax return, the IRS will contact taxpayers via the U.S. Postal Service.

Should you receive one of these calls, the best action is no action: Do not answer or return the calls.
