December 7, 2022, I paid $ 2,081 for upcoming cataract surgery. This amount represented my deductible. I completed the final surgery on January 23, 2023. In late March, I was reviewing my explanation of benefits from insurance, realized that I should be getting a refund of the money paid for this surgery. I called to ask if I could get a copy of my account billing, was told it would be mailed out, never received it. I called again early April, left a message for the billing department, never received a return call. I called on 4/25/2023 was told I had $ 1,089.15 refund, $ 250 was refunded to me that day on my credit card. I was told the remaining $ 839.15 would have to be refunded via check as I had paid via check and that this process would take three weeks. I waited two and a half weeks and called on May 11, 2023 to get a status update. I was transferred to the billing manager where I left a message, never received a call back that day. I called again on May 12th and was told that these refunds can take up to six weeks. I became angry and asked to speak to someone in person, was then transferred to the billing manager and she told me that she had just e-mailed whomever takes care of these refunds and that the check was being placed in the mail that day. I am very angry that this refund has taken this long especially when I can see on the account billing that I finally did receive after asking for this two times, that this has been sitting on my account as a credit since January. Three to six weeks to refund this money that has been on my account for at least 120 days is too long. If I had not called to ask, when would this have been returned? This health care provider is proud to say that they put patient needs first and that they provide unrivaled patient experiences. This is not what I encountered trying to get my account statement and get my money refunded. I am not convinced I will receive a refund at this point.
