Business ProfileforSuper 8 - Sterling

On 06/21/22 at approx. 12:30 am, my son ******* and I were attempting to find a motel to sleep at after driving over 13 hours as we were exhausted. We stopped at the Super 8 Motel just off the highway in Sterling, Co. The clerk said he had a room available and it would cost $84 plus taxes. ($94.08 total), to which I agreed. I was given a room key to room #116. We opened the door and were immediately met by an overpowering odor. Not sure if it was mold, mildew, chemical or what, but it was bad. We were very tired and thought if we turned on the A/C the smell may go away and we'd get used to it. Shortly thereafter, my son laid back on one of the beds and it tilted toward the other said at an angle. The bed was broken and leaned strongly toward one corner. I told him I would sleep in that bed. We both lay there awake for some time. I put a t-shirt over my face in an attempt to filter the air. I fell to sleep sometime after 1:30 am and slept on and off until about 6:00 am. I awoke and saw in insect crawling on the wall that appeared to be a cockroach. I went to the bathroom and noted a metal piece separating the carpet from the bathroom flooring was sticking up in the corner. I thought it could cause a severe injury if someone dragged their foot across it. I looked at the tub and saw a brown stain in the tub, unknown what it was, along with a long hair on the tub. My son woke up shortly after and I said I had to get out of there as I had difficulty breathing. I spoke to the clerk and told him of my complaint. He said I'd have to speak to the manager, Doug. I spoke with him later that day and the next day. He said the room was fine and he would not refund me. I wrote an email to corporate and was told I would have to speak to the manager of the motel. Reference #********. I can forward the email upon request. I was unable to attach the email. Unfortunately I didn't think of taking photos as the air quality was my biggest concern.
