Problems with Product/Service

Complaint: We had A1 perform an inspection on our furnace when we bought the home. They certified the heat exchanger to be sound. A few months later (3 to 4) we had another company service the furnace an informed us (and showed us) three cracks in the heat exchange and appropriately shut down our system. We went back to A1 heating to allow them to recheck the system. They denied that there was any cracks on the heat exchange. After having the 2nd HVAC company show A1 where the cracks were, the tech for A1 acknowledged the cracks but called them "Surface Cracks"...With metal, a crack is a crack...The A1 tech then checked to see if the heat exchange was under warranty and informed us that it was not and that they would need to charge us between $1,500 and $2,000.00 to install a new one at our cost. Not trusting the fact that they have already missed the crack twice, we had a third HVAC company verify if the heat exchanger was truly out of warranty. The third company informed us that is was under warranty and that it would only cost us $294.00 to have the new heat exchange installed. (Interesting?) We proceeded to have HVAC company 3 install the new exchanger and we paid the $294.00. We respectfully asked A1 to cover the cost of the twice missed cracked heat exchanger. They claimed no liability on their end and denied that they ever felt it was cracked even through they gave us a quote of $1,500 to $2,000.00 to replace it. After informing them that I would have no choice but to file a complaint with BBB, they informed me that "THEY KNOW WHERE WE LIVE".
Desired Settlement: I Doubt that we will get an apology after the threat that was given to us but I do believe that they should pay for a twice missed cracked heat exchange. My family has been put at risk and $294.00 is a small price to pay to avoid further liability.
A-1 serviced and tuned up the furnace in this home prior to the current homeowner purchase. A visual inspection, light cleaning and a combustion vent motor was replaced. Nothing on this furnace was certified by A-1 and at no point was the customer put at risk or any danger. The customer asked for a price on a new heat exchanger and one was supplied to him by A-1. I apologize for any misunderstanding and feel the customer was taken advantage of by another company. I would be more than happy to settle and cut a check for $294 to the customer, A-1 does honest work and we look out for the best interest of our customers.
