Complaint: **** promised me an itemized receipt which I never got and its been a month. His quality of work is very bad and cost me money to fix his mess. 1. The baseboard has gaps on the top and bottom. When I told **** that he charged me a lot of money for the baseboard his reply was that everybody else does. Yes, but they do a professional job and he didn't. 2. Underneath the stairs he left 3 inches from each side without baseboard. When I asked **** why he didn't finish the room he told me "You are just going to put boxes there." No I'm not going to put boxes there. It was an eyesore and he left it like that. 3. He did not tell the drywall people that he was going to change the vanity light in the bathroom. So now by the vanity light the texture does not match the rest of the drywall in the bathroom. It sticks out like a sore thumb. 4. He did not caulk the toilet bowl and the shower. Three people including two plumbers told me that it needs to be caulked or it will get mildew and dirt. 5. The shower after one minute of running overflows. **** told me it will drain but slowly. It did not drain at all and I had to bring ***** Plumbing to fix it. ***** Plumbing had to fix the shower's hot and cold water handle as well because **** installed it upside down. Right there I had another unforeseen bill to fix ****'s mess. 6. The rubber toe kick in the kitchen was a disaster. The rubber had gaps and it was sticking out so much that I had to have someone fix it for me. 7. A wooden toe kick that he bought for me from Home Depot cost $18.00 and he charged me $30.00 and he only used 1/4 of it and he took the rest. I bought everything to be installed except for that. 8. **** changed the kitchen light switch which was working just fine while working on the ceiling fan upstairs and he didn't tell me he bought an unlit switch so I had to hire somebody to change it back to the lit switch to be the way it was. 9. **** took approximately 4 hrs to install a ceiling fan. He was on the phone on and off the whole time talking to a person or people to help him figure it out. While he was trying to install the ceiling fan he put a lot of scratches on the stove by the knobs. 10. When he centered the ceiling light in the basement he did not fix the holes in the ceiling. 11. He left sticky grease all over the bathroom floor tiles that the guy from ****** *** couldn't even remove. The tile guy told me that they must have stepped on the grease and transferred it all over the floor. The tile guy tried to scrub it off but it was very hard to remove. When I told **** that, he told me that was from the toilet bowl. 12. I bought the vanity cabinet as soon as he started working for me. I had it sitting in the working area for 3 months. It had a huge picture of it on the outside of the box. **** opened the box when I bought it and he told me everything looked ok. I asked **** if he can take it out and make sure it was not damaged because Lowe's told me they stopped making it so I could change it while they had 2 left in stock. I asked **** 3 times are you sure I don't need tiles under the vanity because it has legs and the old one that was there had no legs and he answered no each time. When it was time to install it he told me that I need to get the ****** *** guy back here because it needed tiles. ****** *** told me that because I needed to bring them back here it was a $200.00 minimum because they had to bring the equipment back. **** waited 2 wks to come back after the tile guy was finished because he was mad he couldn't work at the same time while the tile guy was putting tiles down on the basement floor. The tile guy didn't want **** walking on the freshly laid tiles. The tile guy rushed to get it done on schedule and he got it done before schedule and **** waited 2 wks after the tile guy finished. So when **** came back after 2 wks and told me that it needed tiles it was too late. I paid ****** *** earlier that same day before **** told me that it needed tiles under the vanity. So ****** *** charged me $212.88 for 6 tiles. Simple planning on ****'s part would have prevented all of this.
Desired Settlement: These are the things that **** did for me: 1. In the only bedroom downstairs he did the baseboard and put some spackle on the wall. 2. In the small room under the staircase he changed the ceiling light, switch and outlet, baseboard, and put a frame for the drywall. 3. In the hallway he put baseboard and a switch. 4. In the bathroom he changed the ceiling light, the vanity light, the toilet bowl, the shower head, and the shower's hot and cold water handle. 5. In the living room he centered the ceiling light, installed a folding closet door, and put baseboard. 6. In the kitchen he hooked up a vent, installed a cupboard from Home Depot, and put up a rubber toe kick. *For this mentioned above **** charged me $4,050.00. On ****'s last day of work he told me to find somebody to do the toe kick in the bathroom because he didn't have the right equipment to do it. Then why did he give me a bid when he came on his first visit? Why didn't he tell me that from the beginning that he cannot do it and not on the last day that he had no equipment to do it? I saw four All Phase Construction on the internet so I thought I was dealing with a large company. Bottom line is I paid him a lot of money $4050.00 and he did a lousy job. There is nothing professional about his work. On his last day before he left he asked me for the money and he told me he doesn't take credit cards. I said to him that is strange everybody else takes credit cards. So I asked him for the second time why and he winked at me. He looked at his assistant ***** and he told *****, "Because then they'll say 'what's this?'" I don't know who he was referring to. Who are "they"? He told me to write the check to ***** then ***** would pay him. ***** always referred to **** as his boss so I couldn't understand why **** didn't want his name on the check because **** was the one who was in charge of everything. **** did not want his name on the check or anywhere else. I asked **** for an itemized receipt and he said he has to type it. He asked me for the bid that he gave me on his first day of visit and he took it. I asked him 3 times for the itemized receipt and he said he will give me the itemized receipt. I had to transfer the money to the checking account first thing in the morning because I don't have that kind of money. He also told me that if I pay him cash he will reduce the price. Bottom line is I had to hire somebody to fix the mess **** left me in. I paid **** on Sunday June 23, 2013 and I'm still waiting for the itemized receipt. After a few days I called **** and told him that I want the itemized receipt that I was promised and that I never got and that he should reimburse me for the 6 tiles and labor work from ****** *** $212.88. That was purely ****'s mistake. I haven't heard from him since. With professional work you're ready to move in but with **** it wasn't ready to move in. I had to get 3 different people to fix his mess. The only thing done right was the drywall and only because he didn't do it. His quality of work is unprofessional and I would not recommend him to anybody. I don't want anybody to go through all that unnecessary stress that he put me through.
