Better Business Bureau (BBB) Serving Wisconsin is introducing a new Light the Future awards program which includes two business awards and one scholarship award.
“BBB Serving Wisconsin proudly supports and nurtures integrity from the classroom to the boardroom, and we strongly encourage nominations and applications for these exciting awards” said Jim Temmer, President and CEO of BBB Serving Wisconsin.
This new awards program includes the brand new Spark Awards for Entrepreneurship, recognizing Wisconsin millennial entrepreneurial leaders (ages 18-35) who demonstrate a high level of character, generating a culture that is authentic about its mission and connects with its community. BBB hopes the Spark Awards will continue to inspire young entrepreneurs to follow their dreams, work toward an ethical marketplace, and invest in Wisconsin’s economy.
Also included is the annual Torch Awards for Ethics, honoring businesses that meet the highest standard of ethics and trust among their employees, customers and local communities.
To continue developing future ethical business leaders, BBB will award the 2017 Students of Integrity Scholarships to Wisconsin high school students who have demonstrated character, leadership, and ethical values. Scholarships will be awarded for post-high school education at any Wisconsin-based accredited college beginning in the fall of 2017, including community and technical colleges.
Helen Johnson-Leipold, Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of Johnson Outdoors Inc. and Chairman of the Board of Johnson Financial Group, will be the keynote speaker at BBB’s 2017 Light the Future event on May 18 at Harley-Davidson Museum® in Milwaukee, where the 2017 Torch Awards, Spark Awards and Students of Integrity Scholarship winners will be recognized. By awarding all stages of leadership, BBB’s Light the Future event will be distinguished from other awards ceremonies.
The deadline for all award applications is March 1, 2017. Award finalists will be announced in April. Businesses and nonprofits who demonstrate a solid commitment to marketplace trust are encouraged to apply, and anyone can also nominate an ethical business or nonprofit.
