I bought 1 pine tree from Trees on the Move in 2022 because they said these trees met my criteria of being deer resistant and giving me privacy from my neighbors. That being said, I became very enthusiastic and asked if 2 more trees would work well. The answer was yes. So $3,000 later and a lot of work involved in watering ( my water bill testifies to that), mulching and fertilizing, I have one tree that is not doing well at all! The problems are these as follows;1. These types of trees were a very very poor suggestion considering my stated criteria.2. This trees does NOT get enough sunlight throughout the day to grow properly because they are surrounding by very tall trees.3. All 3 trees were planted way too close to each other by this company knowing full well of their future surroundings.NONE of these original problems had anything to do with me. I have consistently complained about this matter in a timely fashion through phone calls and visits. The problem is always put squarely on me with 1,2, and 3 completely ignored when speaking with this company. They do not want to resolve an issue at all and take no responsibility for their terrible recommendations and work. Just a FYII have never written a review for or against a company nor contacted the BBB about a company in my long life and this is the first time. Yes, Im pretty darn mad and a lot poorer.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We strive to provide quality trees & planting services. At the time of your purchase, you received ********* Instructions which included watering for the type & size of your trees, how to install mulch properly and when to fertilize. When we received your original complaint, we found that proper care was not being taken with your newly planted trees. Evergreens must be watered until the ground is frozen, which may be in December.  (This is noted in a Bold, Capitalized sentence on the 1st page of the instruction sheet.) This is the only moisture that the evergreens will have for the winter months.  If not given enough water, winter burn (********) can occur on the tips of the branches. We referred you back to the Care Instructions, as the trees were not receiving enough water and a few other recommendations were made. Per the photos you sent, and site visits the condition of the trees were determined to be a care issue which would void your warranty. We instructed you to increase watering, add fertilizer, add mulch, and weed around the trees. The things we recommended were not done, leaving this situation out of our hands. Based on the pictures you've included these trees are not dead and can be saved if they receive proper care.

Absolutely avoid! Customer service is pathetic and not professional at all! Picked out a tree, went to the conference room to finalize. When asked for the address, Daniel slammed the paperwork down and said we’re done! We don’t service your area. Completely unapologetic and irrational behavior for someone in customer service. I called ahead of time and verified before driving an hour to the place. Trees on the Move talks a good game on the radio but does not meet expectations or customer service at the basic level of salesmanship. A hundred ways he could have handled this but Daniel chose to flip out and not work with us in any way. Lost a sale and customer for life! Avoid this business unless you like over paying, two other nurseries were hundreds cheaper for the exact same tree.

In May 2020, we contracted with Trees on the Move for two 2” Prairiefire Crab trees to be planted in open areas of our yard, one on the east side and one on the south side. Personnel from the business planted those trees shortly thereafter. Our sales representative, TJ Balistreri, told us that when a newly planted tree fails, 90% of the time it is because the buyers did not care for it properly. We thus set up a schedule and diligently followed the written instructions given us regarding mulching, watering and fertilizing. Both trees were doing fine the following spring, but in the spring of 2022, we noted the tree on the south side had few leaves and did not bloom at all. In July 2022, we contacted TJ and informed him that while one tree was doing fine, the other was failing. He requested pictures of both trees, which we immediately sent. He responded 13 days later that the reason one tree was failing was “definitely a lack of much”. He offered us “a 40% off out of warranty replacement”. My husband responded via email, “Ok, kind of does not make any sense since both trees have the exact same care. One is doing fine and the second is dead! I assumed this would be your response, indicating we have done something incorrect. Disappointed in your position.” We never heard another word. We contacted our neighbor, who works at a nursery that sells trees, and he indicated the mulch looked sufficient to him … and that the tree was definitely dead. This post is late in being sent and we don’t expect anything from Trees on the Move; this is simply a cautionary note to other potential buyers. If you do what you’re supposed to and everything goes well, lucky you. If you do what you’re supposed to and a tree dies, you shouldn’t be surprised – after all, per Trees on the Move, 90% of the time a tree fails, it is the buyer’s fault. We had no doubt our trees would thrive, as we knew we were going to follow the care instructions. It was a costly mistake of $452 for us.

We paid over $2k for two bushes and a tree back on Mother’s Day. We were told the trees we had to pay 100% upfront plus a $55 gas surcharge would be installed in 4 to 6 weeks per Daniel S. but when we showed some concern about the timeline before signing the contract, he said it would most likely be 4 weeks. This was my wife’s Mother’s Day gift that turned into a nightmare thanks to this company. About a week after Mother’s Day, we had a visit from the diggers hotline people to plant the flags in our yard. Then, after four weeks passed, I called to inquire about the installation date to see if we were on schedule. Daniel S. stated it would be another two to three weeks. When I asked about why, he was condescending and said it is what it is. I have spoken to friendlier people at the DMV. Two weeks go by and I call again. Daniel S. once again in his condescending tone states it will be another two to three weeks. Two week go by and we had a 4th of July party planned and hoped to have our trees and bushes installed by this time, so my wife called this time and once again was transferred to Daniel S. Guess What!? Daniel tells my wife it could be another two to three weeks and he can’t guarantee anything! My wife asks if the trees haven’t been installed by the contracted date can we get our over $2,000.00 back. Daniel S. in his rude and condescending tone tells her NO. The following week I call and for the first time I’m transferred to Sue (owner’s wife) instead of Daniel S. At this point, I’m ready to submit a BBB complaint etc. Sue blames me for not asking to talk to a manager sooner! Wow! Now, Sue tells me we were to get our tree and bushes installed this week, and it was tempting to just go ahead and have them finally install the tree and bushes, but my gut told me to dump this company and get our money back and run. I don’t trust them to do the install right and I don’t trust they will support the warranty from reading other countless negative re

They came out to do a bid on Monday April 26th, knowing I was on a short timeline to get a contract signed (I was leaving town to return to Houston on a 7am flight on Tuesday, May 4th). Their representative came out and left me with the impression that they could do the work and that the cost would be somewhere around $2500 and additional for the rock wall I requested around a front landscape bed, and that it would be sometime in July to do the work because of a backlog in jobs. I was fine with that as he was professional and seemed to know what he was doing. At the end of the business day on Friday, April 30th, he sent an email telling me that the job was too small and that they could not do the work. However, if I wanted to add to the contract such as expanding the patio, etc., they would reconsider. First, I thought this was very unprofessional to hit me up for more work at the end of the week when they knew I had to leave town early on Tuesday morning, leaving me no time to find another contractor. Then, to say that they could do the work if I added to the contract was at best, upselling, and at worst a scam to get more money out of me knowing I was on a very tight timeframe. I was not going to return to Milwaukee until the summer and had wanted to have the work already scheduled if not completed by then.
