I received several calls from a number that I didn't recognize, and they finally left a voice mail. The voice mail said I had an outstanding debt that they wanted to collect. That didn't seem right, but I called back anyway. A man answered, and asked what my name is, so I told him. He said he didn't have a record of me in the system, and asked what my maiden name was. I told him, and he played a recording saying that the call was an attempt to collect a debt, in so many words. I asked him what the debt was for, and he said $30. I asked him who the debt was from, and he told me it was the school system in the area. Then I started to feel uncomfortable. I asked him what the date was on the debt, and he said 2019. I was feeling more uncomfortable about it (a two-year-old debt that I had no idea about didn't seem right), so I asked him to send me an email with the info, and he said he couldn't. I asked why, and he said because he didn't have internet access. A COLLECTION AGENCY WITHOUT INTERNET ACCESS???!!! So I hung up and called the school. The school said they have never used a collection agency, and my daughter wouldn't have been able to get her diploma if I owed them money - I owe them nothing. Forward a week later... I received A LETTER from Tri-State Adjustments, Inc. stating I owe $30 for the debt and $30 in fees. SCAM - this company needs to be thoroughly investigated and shut down.
