In May 2022, I signed a contract with *********** to replace the roof of my porch, to insulate the roof and install a vaulted ceiling. They would install six windows that I had ordered from another company when they arrived and install an exterior door that I had previously purchased. Problems arose before the crew started work. 1. I informed the salesperson that I planned to install foamboard insulation on the outside of the porch and batt insulation on the inside, bringing the window jamb size to 7 inches. He did not inform me that the foamboard should be installed when the windows are put in, and he did not write that into the quote.2. I was told to expect work to begin the week of July 18th. No one showed up and I was not notified. I gave up a vacation trip to be home.3. The wrong metal roofing was delivered. I noticed the mistake immediatley and contacted ***********, saving the crew a wasted trip.4. The crew had no idea I had foil-faced foamboard for the exterior walls and put in 2 windows incorrectly before I noticed that they intruded several inches into the interior of the porch. The crew leader said that the foamboard needed to be attached prior to window and door installation. Rather than attaching the foamboard over the now windowless entire wall and cutting the installed foamboard where the windows would go, the only option he gave was that he could cut strips of foamboard to back the window frames. After the work was completed, I realized that this method was neither efficient nor thermally sound. The crew chief had made many more cuts than would have been necessary had he just attached full 8'x4' sections. What was left was a series of seams that would not provide a vapor barrier or the high thermal barrier I had planned.5. Finally, the door was installed improperly. It does not close square to the frame, leaving a gap at the top of the door. The door also sags, dragging on the threshold, ripping the weatherstripping after only a week.
