Additional Notes

Complaint: I purchased a **** ******* ********* *** **uring 4 wheeler from Power Sports of Abrams from *** ********* the owner. On Friday April 13,2012. When I arrived at the dealership I was shown the unit and paid for it.When I was brought back in the shop to look at it I asked how the passenger seat comes off and the tech showed me.When he went to put it back on he struggled to get it to snap back on.I then asked if the seat should be transported inside the vehical and he replied no and it was loaded on my truck. When I got home the passenger seat was missing so I called *** at that point and explained to him the seat was missing. His first words were what do you want me to do about it.I then responded that the tech in the back that helped me load it had struggled to get the seat to snap back on.He replied if it was loose it would have fell out down the road by McDonalds which is right down the street.I explained to him that I drove to my place of employement and then he said someone must ive a dollar amouthave tampered with it there, when I explained it was on when I left work he said I needed to contact ******* direct. I never got a return call back from ***.Itried to call him back several times in the past week, he offered to put some money toward a new seat but said it would not be much and would not give a dollar amount. In the meanwhile I have no seat.2 weeks and no call back with resolution.******* said it is up to the dealer to make it right,as I have found no solution as the cost of a seat is about $575 I feel after spending over $6100 that I am not at fault for the seat comming loose,I have not called the dealership back as now I get the run around that he is not avalible to take my call, this is the first time I have done dealt with them on buying an item.No one even offered to stop at my house and look at the unit,After looking on line at a parts list of the seat I noticed tha latch bolt is missing on the frame which is essential to hold the seat on,its threaded like a bolt,I did call and tel

Desired Settlement: Depending on what the final cost of the seat comes out to be I would like to be reimbursed for the cost of the seat and labor as there is another missing part that holds the seat latch which holds the seat on that is also missing.Or if he wants the unit back I would like my 4 wheelers that I traded in with a trailer and money I paid him back and he can keep the new 4 wheeler with the missing seat,I have never experienced such poor customer service in my life!Thankyou for reviewing this problem.

Business Response:

***,

I understand your point of view. However, you told us that you lost the seat while trailering the unit from your place of employment to your residence. Since the seat did not fall off in the 10mi from our business to your place of employment someone must have took it off and not put it back on at your work. That is why before you left we showed you how the seat clicked into place, ******* makes it that way for safety reasons so the passenger cannot fall off. If we installed the seat and it was not latched on it would of fell off way before you got to work. You never mentioned the piece missing that holds the seat on until you realized you weren’t getting anywhere with just the seat falling off. Also, that part has a locknut to hold it on, there is no way for it to fall off. If that did fall off that is *******’s fault as we do not install that. If that is what this is about then you should not be complaining to us, that is an issue with you and *******. The best we can do is give you the parts for the seat at our cost from ******* and install it for free. We called ******* and they will not warranty it since they do not think it is their fault. We cannot do any better than that, you need to contact ******* direct if you feel that what we are doing is not sufficient enough. We do know that you shopped other dealerships to see if we were lying to you about the cost of those parts and they came up with the same cost from *******. While you were there you bad mouthed our business. We do not appreciate you bad mouthing us to other dealerships. As we said before we can put a little bit of money towards the seat and install it for free. If you want this option you can have the seat for $500.00, our cost is $575.00. The best we can do is put $75.00 towards it. We do not make enough on ******* to give you more than that.

Thanks,

***

Consumer Response: Better Business Bureau:I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complae on int ID *******, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below. It is true that I did check prices at other dealerships as they were not making an effort to correct the issue, only after being asked I shared that I needed their support and was not getting it, as far as bad mouthing their dealership their response was, it could have been handled better by the selling dealer.I was not disrespecful as far as what Dan wrote. As far as being offered $75.00 is a joke on a 575.00 seat, not to mention what they have made on the 2 units I traded in(and he didnt make any money on the deal) hah! I feel that Abrams Power Sports has stepped away from their responsibility and let a customer down by not returning calls and making no effort to look at the unit. Telling me someone took the seat off at my place of employement is a joke.I feel that I was honest and explained everything that transpired from the time I picked it up to getting it home.I am surprised that this buisness is rated at A+, to me communication and resolution of telling me to call Polaris and complain to them says it all, why do we need dealers if their customer service that same day is to call a 1800 number?? [To assist us in bringing this matter to a close, we would like to know your view on the matter.]

Consumer Response: Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID *******, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below. As far as I am concerned *** must have seen someone at my place of employment remove the seat, and is more or less saying that I removed the lock nut as never in the history of the world, one has never come loose by vibration. Why dont we build everything with a locknut then nothing would ever fall off ha ha. Dont worry I will resolve this issue on my own. But I must say how can this business be rated at an A when excuses and guessing is the resolution to the problem. I will never buy from this dealership again. Poor customer service plus taking no responsibility for inspection of unit before delivery is unacceptable. Maybe the next time you buy a new car and the bumper falls off it will be the customers fault too! Sorry to the BBB for wasting their time and talent. Please do not include me in anymore correspondence.
