Additional Notes

Complaint: Final bill issued on May 7, 2013 for $22114.62 We postponed payment until job was complete. At that time additional charges were added for changes and the final bill was settled at $24,997.76 paid in full on June 13, 2013. On June 27 we receive additional request for payment for changes approve

Desired Settlement: Kitchen plus to accept final payment made on June 13, 2013 for $24997.76. This was a final bill. We paid it in full. We do not feel obligated to pay an additional $2917.89 requested on June 27 for changes approved back in December 2012. Kitchen plus is responsible for keeping accurate accounting records and providing accurate invoices. This charge was not included on the final bill.

Business Response: Business' Initial Response /* (1000, 6, 2013/07/01) */ This client requested additions to their project in December 2012; a change order was written in the amount of $2,917.89 for the plumbing parts they asked to be added. The client signed the change order and agreed to pay for the additional items they ordered. The change order was unfortunately not turned in to our offices in a timely manner and the charges were not billed until June 2013. The client received the additional items and should pay as they agreed, the amount owed for those additional items. No one is trying to do anything untoward to this client. Kitchen Plus ordered and paid for these items and should be paid for the signed change order requested by this client. Consumer's Final Response /* (2000, 8, 2013/07/02) */ (The consumer indicated he/she ACCEPTED the response from the business.) July 2, 2013 Response to Kitchen's Plus via Better Business Bureau Complaint Process We agree as in our previous statement and complaint to the BBB that Kitchen Plus did install the components they are billing for. The change order that reflects this install was not included on any billing statement as payments were made throughout the winter/spring of 2013. We will pay that sum. Our ongoing concern is related to the vague communication of the work in included in the original contact and the impact of change orders on the final cost. Additionally, billing statements did not accurately reflect agreed upon change orders so it was challenging to determine the budget throughout the project. We negotiated a final payment on June 13. Payment made the same day. On June 27, we are contacted requesting an additional $2917 for a change order completed December 2012 that did not get submitted on time by their own employees and is now needing payment. In Summary: Kitchen Plus's business practice makes it challenging for the consumer to track costs. Lack of clarity occurs around what items are specified in the original contract, the additional cost for changes and what cost from the original allocation should be credited toward the change.
