Complaint: I called to inquire about a room, and gave the man on the phone my information. When he quoted the price, I told him I wanted to see if I could find something less expensive and told him I was worried about him having my card information. He assured me, twice, that I was not going to be charged because I didn't have a reservation. He said that I could only be charged 2 ways - by making a reservation and (a) showing up and renting a room - or - (b) not showing up and getting a charge for a "no show". He said that I didn't have a room reserved and that if I wasn't there within an hour there probably wouldn't be a room left. I told him I would take my chances. I ended up in a motel right next door to them, and paid only $89 per night instead of the $130 I was quoted at Best Western. When I got home, I saw the charge of $143.53 taken from my bank account for "no show" at Best Western. I phone the motel, and was told that the manager wasn't available and would call me back. They didn't. I phoned the home office of Best Western and they spoke with the La Grande motel and were told they wouldn't remove the charge. I phoned back to the La Grande motel and asked for the manager or owner and was told they were not available and that a message would be left for them to call me. No call ever came. They are ignoring my calls and refuse to reimburse me for the money they stole. I reported the theft to our local sheriff's office, but they said they can't do anything about it. The thing that makes me the maddest is that I double-checked to make sure I wouldn't be charged, and after telling me (over my speaker phone with witnesses) that there would be no charge because I didn't have reservation, he went ahead and stole money out of my bank account anyway. I had no reservation - was told that twice - was told twice that I wouldn't be charged, and they stole from me anyway. No wonder their parking lot was empty compared to the other motels. They just charge you whether you stay or not.

Desired Settlement: I want back the $143.53 they stole from me
