Additional Notes

Complaint: My Mother in Law ******** ***** while under the care and responsibility of Family Resource Home Care was allowed to exit the care givers vehicle in a potentially dangerous position near another moving vehicle while parked, and without assistance. The door flung open and caused damage to the adjacent vehicle causing by one estimate to be $842.00. This was her first trip with this caregiver. Prior to contracting with this agency, I transported her for nine months. ****** ***** is diagnosed with dementia and cognitive impairment. Using proper exit strategy she has never had any problems exiting the vehicle safely with me.

Desired Settlement: I believe payment for damages should be the responsibility of the home care agency or the caregiver insurance, because with use of proper oversight and safe exiting practice for dementia patients by a licensed and trained care giver, this accident should never have happened. I have tried to resolve this matter without success with company president ***** ********.

Business Response: Initial Business Response /* (1000, 8, 2014/07/09) */ This incident has been resolved to both party's satisfaction. After Family Resource responded to the initial question from Mr. *******, we investigated (as we always do) and found the entire incident was based on a misunderstanding of what actually happened and who was responsible. The family and Family Resource are now in agreement and we are continuing to provide services for Mr. *******'s mother-in-law. Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (2000, 10, 2014/07/11) */ (The consumer indicated he/she ACCEPTED the response from the business.) Understandably, my Mother in Law's recount of this incident could not be relied on to be totally accurate. Family Resource did investigate thoroughly and present to us the true facts in this incident. We are grateful for their help in settling this matter to our full satisfaction and we will continue to trust in them with their care of Mom.
