On 2/19/2021 I contacted Memory Mender about our solid walnut table we had purchased new and that had a thin finish on it not appropriate for daily use. Ken (owner) described a product used in commercial settings that could withstand daily use - he raved about its durability. He quoted between $400 and $500 to apply this to our table top only. On 4/1 Ken picked up the table and took away both the tabletop and the legs. When he delivered the table, the legs too had been finished, with runs down all four, two of them with scrapings of paint on them from careless handling, and three missing the solid walnut pegs that had once obscured the hardware. The table top bore some small dents. The finish applied was Deft Spray Lacquer - I know because Ken came back 2x to fit in mismatched pegs (that don't fit and aren't walnut) and to sand off the paint scrapings - he applied Deft spray lacquer on site and said that was used on the entire table. He charged $706.00 and the finish is soft/ weak.

Was excited to use Ken's service to put a durable finish on a solid walnut dining room table we purchased new (which had a matte thin finished on it at purchase). Ken told me on the phone he would use a nice matte polyurethane that would stand up to daily use - a material used in restaurants and bars. He also stated he would be finishing only the table top and estimated $500.00. I was at work when Ken arrived to take the table away. He took the top and the legs. Then, apparently rather than consulting notes he took during our call, he proceeded to put finish on the top and the legs. Instead of the material we discussed, he used Deft spray lacquer from a can. When the table arrived back, it was marred - as though it had been leaned up against painted items. It had also been dented in places - as if no care at all was take in transport. The pegs that hid the leg attachments had been lost. Ken came back twice with "replacement pegs" which didn't fit. On site, he "sanded" off the marred paint, and sprayed more lacquer on the legs. The legs have runs in them. The replacement pegs, instead of walnut - which is what the table is made of, Ken stained some other form of wood peg to "match". The pegs don't fit into the holes appropriately as our pegs were apparently "metric" which is "hard to find". It is just my husband and me - we are pretty gentle people - and less than a month from use - the table has scratches just from sitting things on it - such as a plate, or a laptop. Really anything -the finish is more like a coat of thick hairspray than a durable table top finish. And the cost? $706.00. I have to have the table refinished and do NOT trust Ken to do the work. So I am simply out $706.00 and have a table that is in worse condition than it was when Ken took it away.
