Complaint: The employees of this establishment failed to fully disclose all the options available to me to get my data off my computer (like the fact that I could have connected it to my other working macbook on my own). Also, when I brought an external hard drive in to facilitate the transfer they didn't check the hard drive to see if it was compatible with Macs and just sent it to their Seattle location costing me more time without my data.
Desired Settlement: I'd like my computer and external hard drive back. I don't want the data the store extracted and I don't want to pay for the service.
Business Response: Initial Business Response /* (1000, 6, 2013/11/07) */ I questioned our techs and looked at the notes on this transaction. This is the first we've heard of any dissatisfaction; all she needed to do was talk to our staff to finish up the transaction, although there are quite a few notes on this interaction as it seems the customer has changed her mind multiple times as to how she wants to proceed. It feels a little odd that she went right to BBB without any follow-up discussion I can see. Ultimately the computer has had liquid spilled in it and so the repair is rather expensive. It has dragged on for a while as the customer indicated it would take her some time to get the money. It is a rare occurrence to have someone drop off a used drive formatted with NTFS; Macs can read NTFS volumes but not write to them. There would have been no reason anyone would have double-checked that beforehand. We have the external drive and of course the computer. She can pick up her merchandise anytime at no additional charge.
