Complaint: Mr C***** called me up out of the blue last Thursday asking that I pay a debt that has been in their office for 6 months. I said, "this is the first that I've heard of a debt being with your collection department. My wife is out of town on vacation can I pay you $100 on Friday and $100 in two weeks until our house will sell." He said, "I can see" and started asking questions about where I work. I asked, "why does where I work matter?" He rudely responded with, "when you apply for credit these are the type of questions you ask." I specifically said, "please don't call my work. I'll take care of this. I just need to think about where I am going to get the money from." I asked him to call me back Friday afternoon. He said, "he couldn't do that." I received a voicemail yesterday and this morning Mr. C***** called my work and left a message. FIRST OFF - the purpose of a debt collector is to collect money. If you are polite and respectful to non criminals they will do what they can to pay the debt. SECONDLY - We had NO IDEA that we were at your collection agency. Mr. C***** lied several times to entice me to pay not thinking about where the money was coming from. "Just put it on your credit card" he said. There was no care or problem solving technique to his methods. Just a slimy, shady guy that people have come to expect from collection agencies. I have never in my life been treated like a criminal from someone in collections. I'm glad you record your calls.

Desired Settlement: Train Mr. C***** that when he gets someone on the phone he treat them with respect. Or fire him.

Complaint: I have sent a letter to Merchants Credit, asking them to validate any debts that they think I may owe. I have also asked them to provide the statute of limitations on these debts. I sent a formal letter to the Redmond office, with a tracking number and signature required. Merchants Credit still proceeded to call my phone, after I have put in writing, that I want no phone calls. I want Merchants Credit validations to be put in writing, so I may be able to track the correspondence. I do not want Merchants Credit to call me, my family, my employer, or any other people associated to me. I want these debts validated through writing, along with the all of the information that I've requested in my letter. If these are not validated, I would like these debts removed from my credit reports.

Complaint: I received a red light traffic ticket back in June 2014 that I was unaware of due to discrepancies in vehicle registration address. I did not receive anything to my knowledge on it until March of 2016 after it had been sent to collections and I was told my wages were going to be garnished. I therefore paid the balance of $250 that I had with Merchants Credit Corporation and was told my wages would no longer be garnished nor would it be reported to the credit bureaus. Following that incident, they did not provide the necessary proof of a paid bill to my payroll processing company ADP. ADP then garnished my wages on 4/8/16. I have called Merchants Credit Corporation 3 times since then to have them fax the appropriate documentation to ADP so a refund can be issued. They have failed to do so each time. I am still out $396 as a result. They keep making promises that they don't deliver on.

Desired Settlement: I want Merchants Credit Corporation to follow through on their promise so I can get the money owed to me back.

Complaint: This agency contacted me at my job earlier this month regarding the debt of another person, who happens to be my spouse. I was told my wages would be garnished for $3,101.92 in medical bills if I did not pay the debt. I told them I was not responsible for the debts of my spouse. I also told them I have NEVER signed any document taking responsibility for the debts of my spouse. The collection agency person told me federal law made me responsible for the debts of my spouse; she could not say which law she was referencing. The agency then sent a letter to my home me dated January 15, 2016 telling me I was indebted for the same amount and referenced Account # *******.

Desired Settlement: I am not responsible for the debts of another person even if it is my spouse. I do not your agency continuing to pursue collection of this debt from me, calling me at my job and threatening me with wage garnishment and sending letters to my home. RE: Case#********* ******** ******* ******

We are writing in response to the complaint made about our business. We have completed our
investigation and report the following:
Our office has eight accounts assigned to our agency for collection for Ms. ****** and her
husband, ***** *****. Notices were sent to the address on file for each account, giving 30 days
to dispute the validity of the debts. Throughout the collection history ofthe above referenced
accounts, Ms. ****** and her husband have made payments in $50.00 increments on three
different occasions. We spoke to Ms. ****** on January 13, 2016, at her place of employment.
Our representatives did not discuss any possibility of legal action or garnishment of wages with
Ms. ****** or Mr. *****. We did however, attempt to explain to Ms. ****** that Washington
State is a community property state. Ms. ****** told us not to contact her at work. It was
agreed, on January 14, 2016, during a telephone conversation between our office and Ms.
******'s husband, payments of$50.00 a month would be acceptable. The next communication
we received was from the Better Business Bureau, stating Ms. ****** had made a complaint
against Merchants Credit Association. Please be advised, the outstanding balance for Ms. ******
and her husband, is $3,134.19. Ms. ****** mailed a letter to our office, which was received on
February 1, 2016, stating she wanted us to cease and desist our collection activity. I would be
happy to work with Ms. ****** and her husband to resolve this balance, however, we would
need her to revoke her cease and desist request, in writing.

Complaint: I was given a wage garnishment July 2014 was never served any paper work they said they use 3 rd party service so there not responsible so wages were withheld I believed it was entire balance I just received in mail a continuing lien on earnings I am currently on unpaid disability leave for a year as of now they want to charge me interest of 239.01 from when it was garnished till My employer paid the money that was withheld on or about 3/29/16. Employer says they didn't receive an order to pay til February 5 2016. I have called collection agency and they say I am responsible. How can I be responsible for money I didn't have. I believe because I said I was disabled they talked down to me they offered for My employment to contact them so I called My employer and put them on hold and called credit collector when I did they said they were done talking to me and will not talk to me again they just want there money they continued to be very rude since I first called them to ask questions till the end they offered no arrangements, continued lies, and when they were told I was disabled I believe they talked down to me worse. I am not responsible for money I had no control of paying so why do I have to pay interest. The bill originally was 700.00 that should have been covered on state insurance wasn't paid then ended up with this place and they want me to pay 1613.00 this is so wrong

Desired Settlement: From all the stress and everything they have put me through I don't want to pay anything else. A bill that should have been paid for by state insurance then garnished my wages without even servicing me any documents I have sent papers in the beginning to prove where I lived at the time and was never served till all this time I have been verbally abused and accused of things talked down to and I have tried contacting for a resolution and there is no help offered

Complaint: My problem is in 2011 a medical bill was sent to merchants credit in the amount of $6766 i never received a bill or a phone call about this debt nor did i know it existed until October 2014 when i attempted to buy a home i then contacted them and was informed i never received a bill because they lacked my apt # this is the first 3 years of interest incurred so i asked for a bill and provided my apt # now 11 months later i still have not received a bill and again am trying to buy a house and this place comes up again as my final hurdle so i contacted them again to ask why i still have not received a bill i was told one was sent 2 weeks after my first contact with them i never received this bill and was informed that they don't send a second one resulting in another 11 months of interest bringing the balance to $9466.13 the biggest problem here with the communication is they have always had my current phone number and one would think if your owed almost $6800 you would contact that person by phone to get the apt # that was missing so you could mail a bill also they were willing to settle it for $8767 waiving almost $700 of the interest that is still $2000 in interest that could have been avoided had i received a bill at the beginning this company takes a debt doesn't contact the person owing that debt and collects interest on an unknown bill this should be a crime punishable by law I am not trying to get out of the $6766 debt and am more then willing to pay it but over 4 years of interest without any notice of the debt I'm not willing to pay

Desired Settlement: the outcome i want is the interest to be completely dropped and to be allowed to make payments on the original balance before there was $2700 in interest i would also like to receive a bill or monthly statement on the debt and since I'm in the process of buying a house i may be forced to pay $8767 so i can get my home loan if that is the case i would want to be refunded the difference between the original bill and the $8767 or if i start making payments now on the 9466.13 i would like them to be deducted from the original balance and continue my payment plan

RE: Case#********/ ******** ******* ******

 Dear Ms. ****,

We are writing in response to a complaint made about our business, which was received on September 17, 2015. We have completed our investigation and report as follows:

****** ***** ********* listed an account with Merchants Credit Association for collection on April 13, 2011. Notice of validation was sent on April 13, 2011, to the address provided to the original creditor at the time off service. The address provided to our client was **** ******* *** Springfield, OR 97477. The amount listed with Merchants Credit Association was $ 6,766.35. Interest continues to accrue at 9% per annum on the principal balance. Therefore, the current balance due is $ 9,486.17

Mr. ****** called our office on October 8, 2014 and said his records indicated the account was paid in full to a different collection agency that also represents ****** ***** ********** Mr. ****** said he would investigate and call us back. We did not hear back from Mr. ****** and several calls were made to him with no response. On September 13, 2015, Mr. ****** called our office and we negotiated a settlement of $8,767.00. According to our notes, Mr. ****** indicated he would consider this offer to settle and call us back. We spoke to Mr. ****** on September 16, 2015 and he said he would pay $100.00- $125.00 per month. Our next contact regarding this account was from the Better Business Bureau.

The account history indicates multiple notices were sent to the address received with the account and none have been returned due to an incorrect address. Additionally, several telephone calls were made on the account. In the interest of providing a reasonable outcome, we would be happy to speak to Mr. ******, should he choose to contact our office at his earliest convenience.

If you have questions regarding this matter please do not hesitate to contact our office. This is a communication from a debt collector attempting to collect a debt. Any information will be used for that purpose.

I am rejecting this response because:
This is not a resolution to the circumstances i want to pay the debt but not all the interest that has been added since they never contacted me i was told they sent a letter to my previous address when they received the debt yet i've lived in my current address for over 6 years and also told  that they do not send a second notice they say they have tried to call me and i will gladly pull my phone records to show i have never received a call from them until after this complaint and that call was to accept the payment plan i was trying to set up to start paying this until we reached a resolution in october 2014 the notice they say they sent was mailed to the wrong address again after i had given them the missing apartment number i can prove all this through the recordings of my conversations with merchants which i can also email to the bbb if they need it i feel its fair this injury was sent to multiple collection agency"s which had no problem contacting me and have now been paid off for a few years and this one would either be paid off or almost paid off by now without having the extra $3000 in interest ever reaching that high its not my fault that the communication between them and ****** ***** was poor and i would really like to start making payments on this debt but not the interest gained by the lack in attempts to tell me there was a debt i strongly believe that the goal for merchants was to just let it collect interest resulting in a larger debt for them to collect on im feeling very harassed by the fact that they think its ok to charge interest without informing me of the debt and if we can not reach a resolution through the bbb that i should start seeking legal help i currently can only afford $100 - $125 per month now that i have a child to raise which wouldnt have been the case had i known about this in 2011 when they received the debt

Additional Notes

Complaint: I would like to file a complaint against Merchants Credit Association. I was recently served court papers stating I was being sued over medical bills that totaled approximately 700 dollars. I received no warning of possible law suits prior to the claim. I feel as though the law suit was filed hastily and I wasn't given the opportunity to make the debt right before being taken to court. Since this incident I have tried to rectify the problem and setup a payment arrangement with Merchants only to find they will not accept anything smaller than 370 a month. My husband was unemployed for over 2 months, he's only a temp as it stands, and won't have a job after June 30th. I cannot afford to pay 370 a month with my current income and responsibilities. I want to make the situation right but I want it done so fairly. We would like for the payments to be lower as we cannot afford 300 something payments in 3 months.

Desired Settlement: We would like this company to arraign a lower payment plain with us and stop this law suit for a low amount of money. Only a little of $800 is not worth going to court for and if it is seriously how this company does things then they need to be investigated because they did not even contact us they just took us straight to court or tell us we have to pay an out rageous amount and would not work with a payment that we can afford. So we request that they work with us with a reasonable amount on the payments... This stress is giving me heart pains and my doctor told me that I do not need stress like this or I'll have a heart attack or stroke.

Additional Notes

Complaint: I have contacted this business not once, not twice, but over a half-dozen times to discuss a medical bill (that I was UNAWARE of in the first place) and try to set up payment arrangements. It has been a YEAR. As you can guess, the interest has shot the price of the debt up ridiculously. I refuse to pay the difference, as I've been trying to get in contact with them for so long to take care of it! Every time I call, the phone either rings forever or, if I do manage to get through to someone, I am hung up on. Everyone always seems to be in a "meeting" and I am told to call back at a better time. They are rude, and when they do call me, they don't even disclose that they are attempting to collect a debt, which, as I understand, is illegal. The one time I did get to the phone, the woman was extraordinarily rude and made it extremely clear that her only interest was getting money out of me, despite the fact that I did not have any money to give! They only care for their money, and I understand that I have to pay, but I will not pay interest or any fees that are additional and a consequence of the company's bad customer service.

Desired Settlement: Remove all interest or fees that are additional to the original amounts from the******** ***** accounts, and make reasonable payment arrangements. Incur no fees from here on out, and allow me to pay monthly, with no further harassment. Also ensure that employees are being friendly and respectful rather than rude and condescending.

Additional Notes

Complaint: This company refuses to accept any payment plans from me. I've tried for the last few months to work out a payment plan. They took me to court and said they had a garnishment against me and when I called the court, they told me that was not true. This means they lied to me about information. They will tell you that you must pay the amount in full. When you let them know you are unable to do so they will tell you that you have to "borrow the money from someone," which is a completely unacceptable thing to say. I've asked for multiple different payment plans and they won't accept any. It doesn't make sense to me that a company trying to collect money from you would refuse to do exactly that. I believe they are trying to rack up interest on my account so they can get a bigger amount out of me which is poor business practice.

Desired Settlement: I would like them to allow me to make payments that are comfortable for ME on my account so I can start paying it off sooner.

Business Response:

Please see our response, which is attached. The original will be mailed today.

Complaint: Merchants credit has had my collection less than six months. They have already filed a lawsuit against me. When I have been in contact with them they refuse payment arrangements and hang up on me. I've been called numerous names in the past. When one associate was harassing me I requested she no longer contact me. When I called again I was told I could not call the company any longer. This business harasses customers and refuses to help resolve debt in collections. They file lawsuits in short amounts of time giving the person in collections little time or ways to resolve their debt.

Desired Settlement: Remove all fees, including interest and court costs. I will pay my balance of $526.14 in full upon agreement

Additional Notes

Complaint: Merchants Credit Association was responsible for collecting the debt I incurred after a week long hospital stay. There was a wage garnishment for ONE pay period. I paid the remaining balance after several very threatening and harassing phone calls at all hours of the day and night. I provided my company's fax number to release the garnishment nearly three weeks ago. They told me over the phone that they faxed my company and there was nothing else I needed to do. I asked for some sort of confirmation, but they told me they couldn't provide me with any type of receipt for my payment or confirmation of a release unless I happened to have a fax number. They lied. My company was never contacted. They have now stolen money from me and refuse to issue me a refund. Anytime I begin to ask a question I am rudely interrupted and pushed to another agent. Every answer they give me contradicts what was previously communicated to me. I will be taking MCA to small claims to recoup the money they continue to steal from me and to compensate me for all of the time, money, and stress this has cost me because this business does not act within the confines of the law.

Desired Settlement: I feel I am owed a written letter of apology, $133.63 and counting that is being stolen from me, and minimum wage for all of the time I have had to spend attempting to correct the issues created by Merchant Credit's illegal business practices - 10 hours @ $15/hour = $150 + $133.63 total settlement.

Additional Notes

Complaint: After speaking to Merchants Credit Association to discuss my collections and explain why I had not made previous contact with them, I ended the phone call in tears and extremely frustrated. While talking with the representative I made it clear I wanted to work something out with them to pay off my debt. I explained in detail how due to my husband being out of town and then us going out of town to visit a family member who had just had surgery in Eastern Washington that I was behind on opening mail. I went on to inform her that while opening that mail over the weekend I came across 3 letters from them notifying me of collections owed; I attempted to call that Saturday, left a message stating I would like to make payments. Then the next day (Sunday) as I opened mail from the mailbox as I had been out of town over the past week, I opened another letter saying I had 48 hours to make a payment in full or suit may be brought. Alarmed at this as I wasn't even aware I had been in collections until the previous day I called and left a second message asking someone to call me back immediately. After explaining this, initially they kept questioning me on how I could come up with the money to pay in full immediately; asking things like how much is in your account, does your husband work, can't you skip one of your other bills to pay this in full. I voiced frustration with the fact that when going back thru my phone I had only received one phone call from their company in the beginning of March and didn't know what it was for and now I am being threatened with a lawsuit. Again, I offered to make a payment of as much I as I could to show I was wanted to work with them. First I was told I could but wouldn't stop a lawsuit from being pursued, was put on hold to then be told I can either pay in full now or call back Wednesday and talk to the actual agent on my case who could "possibly" do something for me but may have the same answer. Upset with their refusal to work with me after being very open and honest.

Desired Settlement: Ideally, I would like to make one large payment for as much as I can and then set up a few large monthly payments of an agreed upon amount to pay off the remainder of the debt. Also, I will be contacting the original medical company I was billed from in hopes I can settle this debt directly with them.

Additional Notes

Complaint: Before we started all this drama we called the creditor on this bill, ***********************, and no one could tell us anything about it or that it even existed, let alone had been sent to collection. They were all evasive. Then we called the collection agency that we believed that the account had been sent to and, of course, no one there knew anything either. How convenient is that? Then about 6 months later we get this letter from a collection agency. The letter stated that the last payment the medical center received was 9/16/13, well guess that was the last statement we received, they never sent us anymore statements, we don't pay a bill unless we have a current statement. So to shorten this story, we have been paying on this collection account since July 19, 2014. They insisted on $203.00 a month, they said they can only carry that amount($1218.63) for 6 months. We Asked for a current statement in October 2014 and November 2014 and never received a reply, no phone call, no letter. So when we made our last payment of $203.00 a month on December 20th, or what we thought to be our last payment, we thought it was the last payment, great now we'll have money to buy food. Then this am my husband receives a call at work that we still owe $35.00 dollars, they couldn't have sent a letter telling us that and what it was for, they had to bother him at work. The last statement we received from them was July 2014 and they admitted that. This whole experience has been a nightmare! This company has the worst customer service that I ever had the misfortune to deal with.

Desired Settlement: I would like about $100.00 back because they have caused us so much grief, but I would settle for the interest to be waived.

Complaint: This credit agency has claimed now for the second time that I owe them $500. I have called every single individual or company that they claim put me into collections with them to begin with. Each and everyone of these companies has denied that I owe them any money and shouldn't be in any collections they actually called this merchant credit association to tell them that I do not have any collections with them or anyone else money. They refused to take me out of the system and they refused to Take it off of my credit report. I've asked *********** twice in a dispute to take it off. But the way the *********** checks into it is simply by calling merchants credit association and simply asking if I need all the money, which of course, they're going to say yes. *********** does not know how to apparently follow up on the dispute properly. This absolutely is not right when I've called every single person that they claim put me in collections, which by the way, every time I will call and get a name and call that person and that person would call them and say that I didn't know them, they would let them know that it was a different person that put me in collections and therefore I would have to call them and so I did and in that person would call merchant prettiest association and tell them I don't owe them any money and then I'll tell him that somebody else put me in collections. They won't give me any proof of being put in collections I've asked him several times to send me documentation of who what company and when I was putting collections and what the amount was four and they refused to send me anything. Every time I call I have to leave a message and no one ever calls me back.

Desired Settlement: I want them to take me out of collections and I want them to report that I don't have any collections to the credit bureau. It's hurting my credit, and their business practices don't make any sense.

Additional Notes

Complaint: I incurred a bill at ********* *********** emergency room sometime in 2008. I had been paying it off on a monthly basis ($50 per month). I had it down to about $600 before the bills suddenly stopped coming. Before I had a chance to call them, I began receiving threatening phone calls from Merchants Credit Association claiming that I owed them over $900, and that they would sue me. I had no assets worth that much, and they lied to me continuously, first saying that they would accept a payment plan and then accusing ME of lying when I reminded them of that later. This started in May of 2011. They sued me in 2012, and since I was disabled and unable to maintain steady employment, I was not able to afford adequate legal counsel. I heard nothing from them until October 16, 2014, when I received legal paperwork from them saying they had garnished $1,287 in federal student aid from my personal bank account on October 03, 2014. According to their own legal paperwork, it is completely illegal for them to take that money because it is not income, it is FINANCIAL AID FOR ATTENDING SCHOOL, FROM THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT! It took us two weeks to finally reach them, and they told me to fax them my bank statement showing that the money was not income. I faxed them both my bank statement AND the bank statement from the bank my school uses to disburse financial aid. Today, on October 27, 2014, I was told that the bank statements were not enough to prove the money was not income. To clarify: I am disabled, with Autism, Panic Disorder, and I am getting evaluated for a Seizure Disorder. I am completely unable to work, and part of the reason is that the continued harassment I have received from this company has made my Panic Disorder and the Partial Seizures that go with it increasingly worse. I have no income aside from just under $200 a month in EBT benefits. I have been forced to rely almost entirely on federal student loans and financial aid to pay rent. That money they stole from me was supposed to pay for rent for THREE MONTHS. I am currently in very real danger of becoming homeless because this company refuses to comply with the law!

Desired Settlement: I want every penny of the $1,287.50 in federal student aid they took from my bank account (without notifying me at all until almost two weeks after the fact) back immediately. I want them to drop this debt, which I don't even know for certain whether it is legally theirs to collect on since I was paying the hospital quite reliably until Merchants Credit Association (now they call themselves Merchants Credit Corporation) got involved! I want them to never, ever call me again. I want them to stop pursuing legal action against me. I have nothing to give them, and their continued harassment keeps making my medical condition worse and guarantees that I cannot find reliable work which prevents me from paying off any of my other debts. I have already filed a complaint with the Attorney General of Washington State. If that is not enough, then I will start finding a way to get a lawyer to help me sue this company, because this cannot continue! If this continues, I may very well end up DEAD thanks to Merchants Credit Association making my panic attacks and seizures continually worse!

Complaint: *** ***** at phone XXX-XXX-XXXX, ******** called my home and was extremely rude on 9/3/2014. The representative called my home and insisted that I owed a debt to a local clinic, ********** ******** **** of Seattle, WA. I told him that I had cleared the debt over two months ago and that I never actually owed the debt in the first place, that it was the clinics oversight. I told him my circumstances. That I was insured and receiving public assistance. I said I owed the debt and that he was going to keep calling me until I paid the debt and that there was no other way out of it. I told him he should speak to ************* about the debt. Hi told me to call my medical insurance company. I told him that I had already done that. i asked me if I still worked at a place of business that I had not worked at since 1992. I asked him where he got my employment information. He did not answer my question. He just said he had it in his file on me, probably from a previous debt. He did not say what that previous debt was. His tone and manner of speaking to me was very nasty and disrespectful and he kept insisting that I send him a check. I finally just said, you can do what you want but there is no valid debt for you to collect on and I won't be paying anything to your agency. This was not the first conversation with there agency. They had called me a few months prior to this. I tried to explain the circumstances to the agent and it was a different guy, who was equally as rude. I think they are trained to be rude. This was the most disrespectful treatment over the phone, I have ever encountered.

Desired Settlement: He was very rude and there is no debt. I would like a settlement for my pain and suffering of having to listen to his disrespectful manner of customer service. He should be fired. The BBB should follow up on the credit agency. The should investigate this business and find out for themselves just how rude they treat the credit clients. I did not have and outstanding debt, but if I did. I would not want pay up, just based on the rude treatment,by their debt collectors.

Complaint: In June, I called to set up a payment arrangement for my wife's hospital stay. I asked for some sort of approval of the payment arrangement in writing. I sent the first payment and did not get any sort of notice in writing that they received the check and were using it toward our debt. They then sent me a 48 hour notice of taking legal action. I called them again about making payments, and they said I could no longer make payments. I had to pay in full.

Desired Settlement: I want them to be willing to agree to payments, like they did originally, and to give me some sort of notice in writing. I would also like for them to stop their bullying practices and refusal of transparency.

Complaint: I had a procedure done at ******** ***** hospital in Seattle. Afterwards I got one bill for $1500.00 from the hospital. Shortly after the first bill an got another bill for $350.00 which I paid in full. I assumed that the first bill for $1500.00 was a mistake because I was not informed that my portion of the bill would be that high. Than I got a third bill for $1200.00. I tried to call the hospital billing department but only got voicemail. Then last week I got a letter from the Merchants Credit Association. I called back and told them that I can pay $300.00 or $400.00. *** ****** who I talked to told me I have to pay the rest next month. I told her I need to check and call her back because I was at work. When I called back I complained that the hospital didn't let me know the amount I have to pay before the procedure was performed. I was informed that this is common practice and I have to pay $400.00 the same day and the remaining $800.00 in June. I told them I can make payments but not come up with the full amount. I was told I have to file a hardship or they will proceed with the collection. I was also asked questions about my employment status in an inappropriate way.

Desired Settlement: I should have the right to be informed about the costs of services or procedures in advance. Since this wasn't the case I should at least be able to make payments in a reasonable amount without my credit rating being affected.

Complaint: I received a letter from Merchants Credit Association (MCA). The letter states that their assigned account # of POXXXXXX with an invoice amount of $14.85, and interest of $1.95, for a total amount due in the amount of $16.80, is due and payable now. This invoice amount is supposedly from the ************************* of Seattle Washington. The ********* account #is XXXXXXX, and the invoice is supposedly dated 7.30.10. Complaint: I received a call regarding a bill. I explained that I tried to make a payment online but the page just tries to keep loading and does nothing. I stated I could make a $100 payment today. The person stated that he could collect information for a payment plan and I provided this. He said it would be 189 per month. I asked for written agreement or a receipt that stated that I had made a payment towards that and the balance owed. He stated they do not do this. I stated that I am trying to protect myself as my number has been stolen in the past. The person said they do not to receipts it just goes into the system. I stated this doesn't seem a good way of protecting a business. Person then got agitated and stated "you gotta do what I gotta do and this then goes to the legal department and attorney will determine what action to take". I stated that he was being rude and I didn't appreciate this and asked for his name he stated it is ********* and "this conversation was going no where because he couldn't give me something in detail regarding payment". I feel that my concern for my own safety to protect myself from fraud was not being heard and honestly anywhere you make a payment they provide a receipt of a payment received that is how accounts are consolidated. I only received something in writing once and never received a call and I attempted to pay online several times.

Desired Settlement: Acknowledgement that they can't bully someone into payments that are not possible. I can pay $100 a month and that is a good chunk of money for someone already working 2 jobs. Complaint: Several unethical and potentially illegal issues are going on at MCA. My wife and I both have had significant medical issues and some small bills from ******** ***** have gone to MCA for collection. They have co-mingled the bills, incorrectly and fraudulently claimed amounts for dates of service that ******** Mason documentation contracts. And to top it off, ******** ***** has somehow allowed them access to HIPPAA controlled information (I had a "caller" - as he described himself - quote private information to us about VM accounts). All they do is threaten us with litigation and have NO DESIRE to find out if the information they have is the truth or not. Their personnel are rude, and have not a care in the world besides collecting their money. I was told that they are "different" than other collection agencies in that they "represent the client in the collection of the debt and do NOT take the debt on themselves". ******** Mason says this is completely FALSE and has no truth to it! So they are liars as well. I am filing a complaint with the Attorney General's Office to investigate them for civil and criminal infractions. I have just been able to respond today. I have also reviewed MCA's request to release my information for resolution of the case. My complaint does not involve the specifics of my personal information but rather the business practices and action of MCA and its agents. They do NOT abide by the law (as many legal cases against them can attest to), nor do they even follow their own code as set forth on their website. Their request for me to release my personal information is nothing more than another "strong arm" tactic to dismiss their irresponsible and unethical business practices. I have requested a consolidated statement from them which they refuse to provide; charges mysteriously appear; and their "screw you I'm taking you to court if you pay a penny less than what is on the statement" attitude is insulting and completely unacceptable. This case is NOT resolved.
