Complaint: I work a 100% commision job selling cars. I went to ******* ****** ***** to see about getting a home loan. The educated loan officer told me that I had to be in my job for 2 years, come back and see him then. I went to Main Street Financial and ******* ****** told me no worries he had a loan that would work. Three months later I have lost about $2,000.00 dollars and still recieving bills from a loayer they used for title work.They are uneducated in FHA loans and still try the "good ole boy" approach at getting loans. They take no responsibility for their mistake and are now trying to say the original application had misleading information on it. I work the same job making the same amount of money. Nothing has changed for me the only thing that changed is that they were uneducated on FHA rules of %100 commision employees. They were trying to use my previous job in customer service with ****** ** combined with car sales. FHA rules clearley state 2 years in the same field.
Desired Settlement: Main Street Financial pay the debts they created in my name due to their lack of education.
Business Response: In reference to the above incident: Due to the nature of the business for the client we were unable to verify the type of income needed for the client to qualify for a housing loan. After various attempts to obtain information from the past employer and the current employer the qualifiacations of the client were not within the standard as required by the lender. *** ***** Branch Manager First Main Street Financial Abingdon, Va.
Consumer Response: My complaint is with the company costing me money, time and credit due to their lack of knowledge in the home mortgage industry. Without pulling my credit two other home loan institutions, one before and one after said there was nothing they could do for me until I was at my job for two consecutive years. When going to the company I clearly stated that a bank had turned me down due to my current job and I was getting a second opinion, they pulled my credit and took information and told me not a problem I was approved for $120,000. The loan I was turned down for was for $80,000. FHA loan guidelines clearly states that if customer is in a 100% commision job like I am, they have to have the job for two consecutive years, in the same field. My previous job was in customer service for a satelite company that I was also compensated on commision. As the company stated various attempts to contact my previous employer is the problem. No matter what information they got from my previous employer would not have helped in the home loan process due to the commision not being in the automobile field. The company recklesly used my name, money and wasted 3 months of my time to take a"Good ole boy" chance at getting a loan that no other company could get. Those tactics worked years ago in the banking industry but now there are rules and you cannot vary from those guidelines. I contacted the company to get them to refund the appraisel and lawyer fees due to their mistake, they responded with "we will not do any more we have done enough". My objective is to protect any other customers money, time and credit from this company. Thank You, **** ******
Business Response: Initially, the consumer stated his income was received from comission only. We could not verify this by either from his past employer or his current employer. Neither employer would respond to our initiative to obtain the proper information. Past pay stubs indicated other income rather than comission. Unfortunately, that information could not be verified. Based on the facts as presented we were unable to find a lender that would accept the loan. Yes, the applicant is correct. We do try to go the extra step and assist our customers when we think there is a possibility of obtaining fincancing for a cllient. We have positive results but we also have some failures. We are sorry for the applicant that we did not obtain the results desired but, we did try and thats something no one else would do.
BBB's Final Determination: Business offered a resolution. Consumer did not pursue further with BBB and the matter was assumed to be resolved
