HVAC system installed 06-2021, serviced 12-2023, fixed a week later in 01-2024. Honest knowledgeable technicians. Prompt service when urgency is shown. Due to a miscommunication in the company, parts for my system were delayed in being installed. Management was negotiable in the pricing of my repair, and made up for the delay. So a star for each of the three technicians that worked on my system, and one each for the 2 managers that dealt with my account for a 5 star experience.Southern Trust Home Services, Inc. Response

I contacted them about my heat pump not blowing air. I paid the $79 service fee. The technician did not test anything on the unit and diagnosed the blower fan needed to be replaced. Quoted $1567.00. I had just had the same repair done 3 months ago at my rental house in North Carolina on exact same unit and the cost was $500. When I questioned the breakdown of labor and parts I was told they did not do their estimates like that. Of course he recommended I get a new unit due to the age and set up appointment for salesman to come out. If I was going to do the repair it was going to be 5-7 days for the motor to come in and replaced. I opted to call my service tech in North Carolina for advice. The cost for motor was $200, he said it could be the capacitor and suggested we try that first. My husband is handy and could replace capacitor with no problem so we ordered. Received in 2 days for $11. Replaced it and unit is working perfectly. How many people do they rip off? I was promised the return of the $79 service call since they didn’t diagnose correctly. Another lie. Never refunded or got a call back from Craig regarding the refund. DON’T USE THEM.Southern Trust Home Services, Inc. Response

We will place this customer on our "do not service" list because of her false accusations. Our pricing is completely and totally in line with other companies in the area who offer similar services. Our technical skills and expertise are worth far more than $11. The $79 refund has been issued, but it hasn't hit the client's account yet. We operate with complete integrity, and there are specific realities not understood by most customers as it relates to operating and sustaining a business to serve thousands of customers annually. We understand there are 2% of customers who we'll never please, and this customer is one of those. That's okay. We wish the customer well.Review from Theresa J

I want potential customers to be aware that Southern Trust Home Services of Roanoke, VA regularly overcharges to the extreme. For 10 minutes of actual plumbing work and 26$ retail plumbing parts they wanted $1835 for premium, $1490 for Plus service, and $ 1144 for basic service. Since we had their Total Care Program our price ended up at $747. All we needed was to cap the 1/4” outflow water supply shut off valve after removing icemaker. Instead he cut off about 2’ of pipe and shutoff and replacing with shutoff and plastic tubing. I contacted them about their overcharging policies in general and especially with work we had done. The substitute manager said he would get back to me after discussing with his boss and no one ever did. What aggravates me is the many customers who are taken in by these predatory practices that cannot afford these prices. I checked with several companies and on line comparison sites such as ****** and ************ and found Southern Trust charging 2-4x the prices of other companies. So customers beware!Southern Trust Home Services, Inc. Response

We provided service to this customer on 11/19/23. We did have one of our representatives speak with the customer on 11/20/23. The customer paid $696.62. We always provide multiple options for customers to consider, and it's the customer's choice on which option they select. This customer selected the $696 option, and authorized us to do the work in writing before the work began. The service expert completed the work, including a lifetime guarantee on his craftsmanship. We stand behind our pricing, but we also realize we're not for everyone.Review from Asia F

I will preface this by saying kudos to the plumbing supervisor Christopher ****** and Mauricio ******* for making it right. The only reason I’m not giving it 1 star is because of them both. HOWEVER beware of plumber Travis ********* he will overcharge you and give you ridiculous estimates. I do believe I was taken advantage of by him but after speaking with the supervisor several times he made things right but it shouldn’t have happened in the first place.Southern Trust Home Services, Inc. I will not ever let those people in my home again. They came out to evaluate our water pressure two years ago and sold us a water filtration and softening system. After installation someone gave us a very brief rundown about how to maintain the system. We were told to call the company if we had any further questions. Several times over the next two years we called and told a service technician would return our call and no one ever did. Now we've just paid them $600 to come fill the chemical levels and adjust the settings that were incorrect and had been since installation. Instead of giving us the support and information we needed to maintain the system ourselves, we were ignored until we needed to pay them to fix it. Why, only two years after the installation of this $9,000 system do we need to have someone come fix it? We would have been happy to maintain it ourselves had we known what to do. Instead we couldn't get any response from them until they were asked to come out.Southern Trust Home Services, Inc. Response

Our technician installed the water filtration and softening system and let the client know it would need to be serviced annually. We have called the client several times, but our calls haven't been returned. These outbound calls are all documented in our customer relationship management system. Customers aren't able to service these units themselves because of the level of specificity needed. For example, pH levels need to be balanced, etc.Review from Christopher C

I attempted to make my own repairs to my HVAC unit and was partially successful but it didn't quite solve the issue, so I had Southern Trust do a visit to see what the final verdict was. **** ***** was my technician and within about 10 minutes of looking at the unit, found the issue. It ended up being a simple step that I missed when I made the attempt. Gabe was completely upfront about the problem, he didn't try to upsell me on anything but just solved the issue and I was just charged a nominal fee. The before and after photos are awesome so I have something to look to in the future. All of my HVAC tunings have been done by Southern Trust over the years and I will definitely continue to do. Called to have Southern Trust look at a non-working garbage disposal. Their rep arrived and never even looked at or tried to fix the existing disposal, but instead worked up an estimate to replace it. Since I had already purchased a replacement disposal, I expected an estimate in the $200 range since I knew it was about an hours worth of labor. Imagine my surprise when the estimate was for $649 with a discount of $100 for a coupon(?).. I politely pad the $59 service call and sent the repairman on his way.. An expensive lesson learned...NEVER use Southern TrustSouthern Trust Home Services, Inc. Response

The service expert noted the garbage disposal was leaking. When a garbage disposal is leaking, it can't be effectively repaired. The service expert quoted a new garbage disposal with a three-year warranty. The price quoted was accurate. Thank you.Review from Donna C

We called Southern Trust for repair of a broken water pipe on Sunday. We were told that the travel fee would be $139 to which we agreed. The serviceman arrived and informed us that the fee to repair it would be $1425.79. My husband agreed to pay it as we needed water. We were totally taken advantage of. It was a choice between pay an exhorbiant fee or no water. I would NEVER recommend this company. They take advantage of elderly and the need for water.Southern Trust Home Services, Inc. Response

On Tuesday, June 20, our sales manager, Matt, spoke to Greg and Laura. Greg expressed to Matt that the customer-supplied faucets were leaking, and he believed the disposal was damaged when it was installed. Greg requested a service expert come out and check out the issues with the faucets. We're sending a service expert to Greg's house on Thursday, June 22 from 2-5 p.m. Matt advised Greg that our service expert's work carries a workmanship warranty and if the issue is a workmanship issue, we will stand behind our work and fix the issue without charge. We need the service expert to visit with Greg and assess the situation on Thursday to secure an accurate understanding of what's going on. We'll know more after our service expert visits with Greg on Thursday.Review from Ron M

Our kitchen faucet developed a large leak. The leak was large enough that water had came out onto our hard wood flooring. I called Southern Trust because we had used their plumbing services a few times before. I spoke with Dana, who was very helpful. Within an hour Jim ****** arrived at our home. Jim is an extremely nice employee. He gave us a couple of options to consider. We opted to replace the whole faucet. Jim matched our new faucet well with our kitchen. He was very proficient and quickly installed the new faucet. We could not have asked for a faster response or for a better plumber. Jim did a great job. Definitely 5 stars.Southern Trust Home Services, Inc. Response

CUSTOMER BEWARE!!! I recently used Southern Trust Home Services to address an electrical issue I had at our home. The technician came out and identified that it was simply a breaker that had failed, and needed to be replaced. In less than an hour they identified the problem and replaced the breaker. However, then the technician told me the cost was $441. I asked why replacing a $10 breaker costs $441. He said he didn't know, and couldn't provide a breakdown. It's just what their program told him. I followed up by calling the company's office, and they too could not provide me a breakdown. All she could say was that the standard cost for a single 20 amp, single pole breaker replacement was $441. So I did my own breakdown. Given the breaker cost $10 (**** ***** cost), that leaves $431 for 1 hour of labor, plus say worse case a 30 minute drive to my house, and overhead costs. Assuming that this electrician (a fairly young guy) gets paid $35/hr, and their overhead rate equal to 100% of the raw labor rate, then the cost for labor and overhead is $70 per hour. This would result in a cost of $105 for the 1.5 hours. If you subtract $10 (for breaker) and $105 (for labor and overhead) from $441, that leaves $326. That means the company made over $300 in profit on a $10 breaker. Based on this, my recommendation to you is to NOT hire them for home services, but buying stock in the company because they certainly know how to turn a profit.Southern Trust Home Services, Inc. Hi Pete, we regret to hear you were displeased with our upfront pricing, which determined by the job rather than the hour and is guaranteed not to increase even if the job takes longer than predicted. It includes best-in-the-industry warranties on all work performed, and all our technicians are drug tested, fully licensed and insured. We do not offer parts breakdown on any invoice, but please reach out to us at ************ with any further questions or concerns.
