            Hickey installed a HVAC unit for me in 2022. They contacted me in Feb. 2023 to schedule a follow up inspection. I dropped keys off to ******* at Hickey on 02/21 as the job site was vacant. I gave ******* instructions that the keys were to be mailed to my home address when they were finished and I watched her write this info down. The inspection was done on 02/22. On 3/1, due to not having my keys back, I called and spoke to ********* who told me that the keys had been mailed to the job site instead of my home. She let me know that this mistake was not her fault because she was not told where to mail them. I asked that they retrieve the keys and mail to the proper address, reason being is that they are 5 minutes form the job site and I am 30 minutes away. On 3/2, **** called and said the envelope had been torn open and the keys were gone from the mailbox. He then offered to have more keys made from another set I had. I explained that was not satisfactory to me as there were now house keys floating around somewhere. He agreed and said he would send out a locksmith to re-key the lock. He called me back later that day saying the locksmith was done and asked what I wanted done with the keys. I suggested mailing them to me but he insisted that he hand deliver them to me. That was on 3/2. It is now 4/11 and I do not have any keys nor have I heard anything from these people. I did contact the HOA president of the town home units (job site) that they said the keys were stolen from. She said they had NEVER had any problems with any mail being tampered with or stolen. I have not had access to this home for over 5 weeks because of this company and I want my keys returned. Thank you. ******* ********

            Hickey Electric caused a fire in my oil furnace on 2/23/2021 resulting in more than $50,00 structural damage, loss of my home for months, and significant emotional stress, unreimbursed medical expenses, veterinary expenses and serious financial losses. The company blamed the fire on me as the homeowner which is a fraudulent statement. Hickey Electric sent a young, inexperienced, incompetent technician ('D') to perform a service call on my oil furnace. When the technician arrived he stated "I hate oil" and ended up bypassing the thermostat which was turned off for safety and setting the oil in the furnace bowl on fire. It took the Amherst County Monelison Fire Department at least an hour to extinguish the oil fire. The technician wanted to sell me a $5,000 heat pump system which would not be feasible since I only have a one (1) amp electrical system. Today's new technicians are not trained to work on oil furnaces. The technician set the fire by hotwiring causing a 'puff back', did not call 911 for help and tried to leave before the fire was out. He asked for $39.95 for the service call, and then said he would not charge me and left. Contact with the CEO of Hickey resulted in a denial as he blamed me for setting the fire. My homeowner's is processing the claim however, thousands of dollars of unreimbursed expenses means a devastating financial loss to me. I am widowed, elderly and live on a fixed income. I find the lack of support from Hickey Electric reprehensible as they have caused damage to at least two (2) other homes in the area with oil furnaces. Do not do business with this company if you have an oil furnace, they do not provide good technician service nor are they willing to accept responsibility for their technician setting a house furnace fire and causing irreparable harm, particularly to a low income, widowed senior female.

            We regret that the homeowner misunderstood the existing situation that was not within our power to change. We do have very competent experienced Master licensed HVAC technicians who take great care of our customers, and they do their best to represent Hickey ethically and professionally.
