The salesperson representing the business recorded the incorrect colour name on the order paperwork for our new patio doors, resulting in the incorrect colour of door being installed at our home. The business is refusing to take responsibility for their salesperson's error and is demanding payment even though the door is the wrong colour, and the installation is not yet complete. The business has offered a **** credit which is not acceptable to us, because we would like the colour we were shown by the salesperson. So far, we have paid a ****** deposit, and we are prepared to pay the remainder of the amount quoted if the company replaces the door in the correct colour.
Product_Or_Service: New patio doors and installation.

Desired Settlement
We would like to return the door that was installed, and have the company order the door in the correct colour, and complete the installation. At which point, we will pay the full amount that was originally quoted.

Business Response
We have a signed contract which states the color the customer signed for and received. We have had the manufacturer and ourselves go out to check the door - they received the door they signed for. During discussions after the door was installed the customer had indicated many different colors they thought they were purchasing. We did offer a **** discount after the customer indicated they would possibly accept it if we could change the color of the capping, which now they say they don't want. We also offered to purchase a new door the color they indicated they want and we would split the cost with them. The original contract would stand and we would split the cost of the new one.

Consumer Response
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
We are not disputing having signed the paperwork. However, the salesperson filled out the paperwork incorrectly with the wrong colour name. For the record, the swatch that the salesperson brought to our home did not look the same as the swatch that subsequent representatives brought with them. We suspect the salesperson was accidentally using a different manufacturer's swatch. We do not feel we should be penalized for the salesperson's error. We also feel that returning the door that was installed and replacing it with a door in the proper colour is an appropriate and fair request. A **** discount is not acceptable, as this does not help us solve the issue of having the wrong coloured door. The offer to have us pay our original order in full in addition to splitting the cost of purchasing a new door in the correct colour is also unacceptable. We feel it is absolutely unethical to expect payment for a job that is not yet complete, and is not done correctly.

Final Consumer Response
This business claims to have made several attempts to resolve our complaint with regard to the colour of the door, yet the only two things they have offered to do are credit us ****, or have us pay the full amount of the original incorrect order, and receive a discount on ordering a brand new door order. We fail to see how a credit of **** solves our problem. Paying in full for an order that is incorrect for which installation is also not complete, and then asking us to buy a new door on top of that is ridiculous and unethical. Again, it should not be our fault that the salesperson wrote down the wrong colour on the paperwork. We still feel that our suggestion to return the door to the company and have them replace it in the colour we asked for is a reasonable and simple request. In fact, this is how reputable businesses handle things when they have made a mistake on an order.

Final Business Response
We have made several site visits and offered a few different options based on all the information we gathered from you. We have been ethical and following business protocol in dealing with this and trying to resolve this. If you would like to discuss this further, pls call the office at XXX-XXX-XXXX and ask for ****.
