            I ordered a two-year filter replacement plan with the purchase of the Kickstarter RKIN U1 4in1 water filtration system. I did receive Order ***** in March of 2023 which was part 1 of the filter bundle. The 2nd part of the bundle was supposed to ship 6 months after the U1 which would have been June / July / August of 2023. This part never arrived sadly.RKIN has been pretty good about communications during and after their campaign. They even admitted some issues with parts of the filter set not being included in the bundle and production and fulfillment delays which I appreciate and is to be understood.So I was surprised when my unit stopped working due to needing filter replacement and i didnt have the 2nd shipment to put in the unit, I reached out to customer support to see where my 2nd part of my shipment of filters were and was told it was "delivered" and there is no proof of delivery from them (claim the "proof" expired) and was gaslit by customer service saying there is nothing they can do. They closed the door which is why I am filing this complaint. All I would like is my filters that I paid for. Nothing more nothing less. and the company says the items were delivered in full, but they were not.

            I am doing you a favor here if you see this. RUN from this company. Do not buy from them. ALL THE REVIEWS BELOW AGREE THAT THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICING IS TERRIBLE. Their product breaks easily, their customer servicing is the worst, and they will make you pay more money to buy a new unit rather than fixing it. The RKIN I brought got a leak after 5 months. I bought it refurbished so it was likely it was a problem that took some time to show up. I asked for follow-*** and they asked me to send the unit back. They MAKE YOU PAY FOR YOUR OWN SHIPPING AND ASK FOR INSURANCE (80$ with **** to do this. When the unit got there, they told me that there were NO repairs of what they could do for it. They just told me to buy another 1000$ unit. The worst part was the email the customer servicing agent sent me. They thought I was trying to scam them when I was willing to spend money to send my unit back and I was ready to pay for repairs too if possible to give them a chance. This was the response I got from customer servicing: "Let's say that I purchased a car, and after 5 months of use, I accidentally caused some damage to it, such as a dent or crash. If I then went back to the dealership and claimed that the car was defective from the beginning, and said replace my car? This seems to be a similar concept to what you are doing right now."Can you imagine getting this email after you spent nearly 100$ to send back their own defective unit?? Takeaway is this If your unit breaks you are SCREWED. The unit cannot be repaired and they will not give you another one. The lifespan on these machines is VERY short too so you are paying 1000$ for a machine which will break soon.

            Dear BBB Review Team,

            I hope everything is well!

            On December 26, 2023, ****** **** reported a U1 water filter leak. Troubleshooting and a video call were offered and conducted as a courtesy, but the issue persisted. Upon receiving the unit for repair, a visible crack was observed, and tests confirmed the leaks originated from it.

            We promptly contacted the customer, providing photos of the unit as received. The customer denied the presence of the crack when sending the unit to UPS. However, upon reviewing the recording of troubleshooting video call conducted with the customer, we found evidence that the unit already had a crack before its return to us. 

            Requests for replacements of accidentally damaged units are outside of product warranty coverage.

            Please note that no refund, replacement, or repair is feasible as the unit is irreparable.

            Video and photo evidence is available upon request.

             

             

            Addressing ******** complaints:

            1. We did not recommend purchasing a new unit as an alternative to repairing the old one. Regrettably,  we are unable to repair the damage sustained by the unit.

            2. The unit you acquired was not refurbished but rather brand-new.

            3. The issues with the unit are not attributed to a manufacturing defect; instead, it appears to be accidental damage, mishandling, or misuse. Consequently, the customer will bear the cost of shipping the unit for repair.

            4. The internal part that incurred damage is non-replaceable, rendering the unit unrepairable. This component is not easily damaged or broken on its own.

            5. The unit was in pristine condition upon shipping to the customer, and leaks only commenced after the fifth month of usage. If the unit were defective from the outset, leaks would have manifested within the initial days of use.

            6. The repair process will be contingent on the extent of the damage. Unfortunately, accidental damage is not covered by the product warranty or our satisfaction guarantee.

            7. Lastly, the lifespan of the unit hinges on how well the customer handles and cares for it.
