Complaint They don't care if the vehicle is safe or not, a sale is a sale. It's your problem now. That's my experience. I purchased a used 2008 Chevy Avalanche from them in Feb. of 2015 by March of 2015 I was not safe in this vehicle. I brought it in to them showed them the issues and all they had to say was " you bought as is sorry". My brake booster had over a gallon of fluid( should not have any) my stabilizer link bushings were completely worn out instead of replacing them they put washers on them as spacers the control arm is breaking because of that. My abs/traction control lines were CUT CLEAN in half radiator leaks engine shakes yea it's. Real nightmare and they have not owned up to any of it. It's been 5 months and I have gone there 7 times and spoke to that location as well as corporate and still no resolution. I can't drive this truck it is UNSAFE. All I wanted from them was either repair what they should have seen in their inspections or trade me into an equal value SAFE vehicle.
Desired Settlement Like I told the location as well as the corporate office , I'm simple I just want a replacement vehicle of equal value that is SAFE to drive
Final Consumer Response Sometimes all you need is the right person, and they do have the right people. Autonation of fort Myers stepped up got me out of my unsafe vehicle and into a new vehicle quick and painless. Thank you to Luis, Steve, and Dimas.
Complaint Predatory lending and sales deceptions to consumers with poor credit as well as delay tactics in canceling and refunds on extended warranties.
In May of 2014 my son in law and myself purchased a 2012 VW Jetta from the Toyota Used Car Superstore in FM (sticker price under 15K put $2500 down and after a years worth of payments owe over 17K as they tack on a paint sealant fee and hard sale gap, fire, theft and an extended warranty - which took an act of GOD to cancel and after 5 plus weeks my finance company still states they have not received any funds from Autonation to credit toward our loan - I have made 4 inquiries - No Response)
At the time of purchase was told the tires which appeared to look new were according to salesman only to find out a month later at VW when I was having the 30k mile service done 3 of the tires needed to replaced as only one was new.
We both have credit issues and were told that if we made our payments on time for 12 months we could trade the vehicle in a year and have low to no down payment as well as lower interest rate, a stepping stone to rebuilding our credit....needless to say we tried to trade it in told the car is worth only 9k and we are over 7k upside down in vehicle - due to our credit - which has has improved greatly, they stated we would need a least 5k down and interest would be higher by 2% - (almost forgot to mention when we first picked out the vehicle was told we would only qualify for a loan of $16k with $2500 down, salesman kept trying to get us to look at older model cars in the 12-13k range - he kept stating we were fortunate to get any financing @ 21% as I had a repo on credit file.....when it became apparent to him we wanted the only the VW or we were going to another dealership he put together the sales order announced with hard work from the finance mgr he was able to save us money and the interest rate was now 18.99% (please note recently I found out that a law in Fl was passed that used vehicles 3 years or newer had a cap on loan rates of 18.99%) so once in F and I office told several fees paint sealant, dealers prep etc were added to amount and then a high pressure sale on warranty, gap, fire and theft which added $3200 to car, I asked why if we were only approved for 16k with $2500 down, why we couldn't purchase a new car for 19k with all of the warranties in place, they told me in a year you if payments are made on time you will be eligible for our conquest program and you can get financing through Toyota credit with a low interest rate. All of what we were told and continue to be told is borderline fraud.
What a horrific experience, one we both will be paying for years to come...from the rough talking female sales person who reeked of alcohol who first started out with our purchase to the fast talking "yes, after one year of on time payments" will say anything to get you to buy salesman...this has been a Dog and Pony show extravaganza...with the exception of one salesman Benard, I felt he had a genuine interest in trying to help.
I honestly feel my next step is to drive my car around with magnetic signs that reads - I bought this vehicle from Autonation - a year ago and I am 7k upside down - they will say anything to sell a car Buyer Beware!!!
Desired Settlement To have my canceled warranties etc credited to my loan balance immediately, no more games and delays...To trade my vehicle in with low to no money down and be financed by Toyota Credit as told.
Business Response I have verified the cancellations are being processed. This takes a minimum of 4 weeks from cancellation to checks cut. we have no control over mail. I have reviewed these allegations and have found they have no merit. Her allegations are so outrageous and preposterous... I won't respond to slander and threats.
Consumer Response (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) CALL AMERI-CREDIT TODAY, 6/24/2015 MY BALANCE IS $16,954.00 AS I JUST MADE A PYMT - SO AS YOU CAN SEE THE FINANCE COMPANY HAS NOT RECEIVED A REFUND - 6 1/2 WEEKS LATER?????? PLEASE SEE ATTCAHED COPIES OF ORIGINAL FINANCE PAPERS AS WELL AS DATED CANCELATION OF WARRANTIES FOR PROOF OF MY FRUSTRATION, ALSO NOTE THE ARE ON CANCELATION FORM WHERE THEY WOULD GIVE IMMEDIATE CREDIT FOR THE WARRANTIES IF I WERE TO TRADE THE VEHICLE IN WITH THEM....HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE, IF THEY STATE IT TAKES AT LEAST 4 WEEKS AND THEY CAN'T CONTROL THE MAIL. I PERSONALLY HAVE NOT RECEIVED ANY CALLS OR COMMUNICATION FROM AUTONATION, AFTER NUMEROUS TRIP TO THE DEALERSHIP AND CALLS. I DO FEEL MY RIGHT TO FILE A COMPLAINT WITH THE BBB OR WARNING OTHERS ABOUT AUTONATION'S BUSINESS PRACTICES AND OR THE EMPLOYEES I ENCOUNTERED LACK OF PROESSTIONALISM IS SLANDER. NOR DO I FEEL IT IS EXTORTION TO ASK FOR WHAT WE WERE TOLD BY THE SALESMAN - THAT WE COULD TRADE THIS VEHICLE IN IN ONE YEAR AFTER MAKING TIMELY PAYMENTS - HAVE LITTLE TO NO DOWN PYMT AND QUALIFY FOR THEIR "CONQUEST PROGRAM" - INSTEAD I STILL OWE OVER $17 ON VEHICLE THEY OFFERED ME $10,000 TRADE IN VALUE FOR IT AND A INTEREST RATE OVER 20% WHEN MY CREDIT SCORE HAS INCREASED, I HAVE NOT INCURRED ANY DEBT OR BAD DEBT SINCE THEN AND I MY ANNUAL PAY HAS DOUBLED. PLEASE NOTE I HAVE TRIED TO TRADE THIS VEHICLE IN AT NUMEROUS PLACES AND HAVE BEEN TOLD I NEED FROM 4-6 THOUSAND DOWN AS WELL AND NO BANK WILL APPROVE FINANCING THAT AMOUNT OF LOAN DEFICIT/NEGATIVE EQUITY INTO A NEW LOAN.....NEEDLESS TO SAY I STILL FEEL I HAVE BEEN TAKEN ADVANTAGE OF BY AUTONATION AND THEIR SALES TACTICS FOR INDIVIDUALS WITH BAD CREDIT.
Final Business Response All cancellations have been processed, submitted and checks cut. The July 4th weekend has delayed mail further. This complaint has been responded to and acted upon. Please close on behalf of Ft Myers Toyota.
Final Consumer Response As of 7/10/14 all of my concerns and issues with Autonation of Fort Myers have been remedied as my extended warranties were cancelled and refunded to my loan balance. As explained to me the delays were beyond their control as the process is quite time consuming. After receiving the refund I purchased a new vehicle from Autonation of Fort Myers on the July 14th, this is the third vehicle I have purchased from them in the last 15 years . A special thanks to my sales representative Benard E******, who treated me with concern and respect, throughout this process, I would highly recommend Mr E****** and Autonation
Complaint They Failed to recognize and address a serious issue. Personal belongings taken out of my car. on March, 9th, 2015 I went to have a diagnostics on my car, and made the mistake of forgetting an envelope with $700.00 in cash in the car. Money which had to be paid out to someone else. Only to have my car returned to me without the money, When I brought it up to the service department staff members in there, they treated me as if I was making this up, or simply losing my mind, after they told me that it was my mistake to leave my money in there. So...was it my mistake for leaving the envelope in the car, or am i just crazy? I've talked to a mr. ******, and so did my son about this incident on the phone. I was told that this matter, would be taken up with higher authority, and I've yet to hear from anyone. I did not want to disobey my brothers wishes from not purchasing another vehicle from AUTONATION, mainly because my brother has too much pride to bring up such matter with his friends there. After all, hes bought several vehicles from them. So a deal was struck two days later, and my car was traded in for another, and my brother said having the $700.00 stolen out of my vehicle was simply my mistake. $700.00 did not bankrupt me, but it is my hard earned money and it set me back. The first person, I spoke to at AUTONATION, called the events " A SERIOUS MATTER " . Obviously, they did not take it seriously, and only cared not to attract attention in front of other customers, and have me leave the place as soon as possible with promises of the matter being investigated and resolved. No calls returned. No actions Taken, and not one single courteous nor professional manager to bother giving me a call. I am stil bummed out about what happened. I feel violated, disrespected, and humiliated. Several staff members there only defended what happened with their company policy, of them not being resposnible for clients' missing belongings. They literally told me that it was my mistake.
Desired Settlement I would like my $700.00 to be returned to me after a thorough investigation of this case has been conducted. And as I explained to them before, I am 100% sure that my money was in the car when dropped off for service.
Business Response WE TAKE THESE ALLEGATIONS VERY SERIOUS. WE DID A THOROUGH INVESTIGATION. WE HAVE SECURITY CAMERAS IN ALL AREAS OF THE DEALERSHIP. EVERY ASSOCIATE THAT HAD CONTACT WITH THE CAR INCLUDING THE 3 SALES AND SERVICE MANAGERS THAT MS **** SPOKE TO WERE INTERVIEWED. OUR REPAIR ORDERS STIPULATE IT IS THE CAR OWNERS RESPONSIBILITY TO REMOVE ALL VALUABLES FROM THEIR CARS. WE TAKE EVERY PRECAUTION HUMANLY POSSIBLE TO AVOID THIS TYPE OF SITUATION. WITHOUT ANY SUBSTATIATION THE ONLY RECOURSE I WILL GIVE MS **** IS $400 OF STORE CREDIT FOR HER TO USE AS NEEDED WITH AN EXPIRATION DATE OF 12/31/2015. IF SHE WOULD LIKE TO TAKE MY OFFER SHE CAN CONTACT *** **** MY FIXED OPERATIONS DIRECTOR AT XXX-XXX-XXXX. I APOLOGIZE FOR THE SITUATION.
Complaint Odometer issues with the car I purchased a certified 2011 toyota prius in august 2014. The car only had 34,633 miles on the day I bought the car on 2-19-15 I took the car to ******* who did a auto check on the car I was going to see what they would pay me for it. When they pulled the autocheck they said and printed out the paperwork for me told me that on august 2014 the car was registered with having 64,633 miles. I have left messages with autonation to help me with this issue and no response. This is there mistake My girlfriend just bought a car and we have nothing but a problem with them. The car to this day does not have 64,633 miles on it. I would really appreciate them to handle this issue. This is very frustrating I work hard for my money and take very good care of my stuff and to be treated like this and get the run around for there mistake I would never recommend any one to purchase a vehicle there. If I dont get a response soon from someone I will go to The dealer board with this. Im very disapointed with how they handle business. They are very quick to get you financed but when you have an issue that is there fault they are not so quick to help you.
Desired Settlement I would like them to fix the problem.
Business Response OUR RECORDS INDICATE THE CAR WAS DELIVERED TO MR **** WITH 34613 MILES ON 8/2/2014. Complaint This dealership have been using my VIN for services performed on another car. On Tuesday, January 13, 2015, I attempted to trade in my current vehicle, a 2009 Toyota Venza (VIN: 4T3BK11A09UXXXXXX) for an SUV. When the appraiser and salesman obtained the Carfax report for my vehicle, there was a flag referencing a ''potential odometer rollback.'' However, when I initially purchased my vehicle, the Carfax report provided to me by the salesman did not contain this flag. As a result, I was told they could not accept my vehicle as a trade due to several inconsistencies with the odometer readings and service history. I was advised to file a report with the Motor Vehicle Association (MVA) and to contact the dealership where I purchased my vehicle from to address this issue. The following day, I went to the MVA to file a dispute and I also visited the dealership (Fitzgerald Lakeforest Toyota) where I purchased my vehicle. I explained the situation to a service manager (***** ******* and he began to investigate. After spending several hours at the dealership waiting for them to provide me with an explanation and mutually agreeable resolution, I was told that a car dealership in Fort Myers, Florida (AutoNation Toyota) was using my *** number for services performed on another car. Therefore, the Carfax report I received (as well as Toyota's vehicle history report) when I purchased the car was inaccurate and reflected another individual's vehicle located in Florida. I purchased my vehicle from this dealership with the assumption that my car was well maintained by the previous owner and had multiple services and repairs that I would not have to deal with for an extended period of time (if at all). If I had any idea that the service history physically provided and explained to me by my salesman was inaccurate, I would not have purchased this vehicle. For example, on 1/20/2015, I had to pay $170 for a new battery to be installed at the Toyota Service Center in Bowie, Maryland. However, my vehicle service report states that a new battery was installed in my car on 7/25/2013 (just one month before I purchased the vehicle). This was completely unfair to me because I purchased the car with the assumption that I would not have to replace the car with another battery at least until the year 2017, which would have served as money savings for me. When asked if they could provide me with any type of service reports that actually reflected my vehicle I was told that they did not have it and the situation would need to be investigated. They also could not provide me with a timeframe of how long the investigation would take. I am in URGENT need for a larger vehicle and this is a complete disservice to me for several reasons: * The number of individuals in my household is soon to increase (which includes two additional children in car seats) whom which I have no seating for in my car for transporting * I was offered a new job out of state and need a bigger vehicle to transport my family and personal items * I have a car that no dealership will purchase or allow me to trade due to the Carfax report (as well as Toyota's vehicle history report) * I've missed several incentives offered by other dealerships because I could not trade my car in * The value of my car will continue to depreciate (due to increased mileage) and I will not be offered the original appraised amount * I've made unnecessary inquiries on my credit report which will negatively impact my score and possibly future credit decisions
In addition to being in contact with the service manager at *********** I have also been in contact with the service ************ ************ at the AutoNation in Ft Myers, FL regarding this issue. Mr. *********** stated that the issue needs to be investigated due to ''legal matters'' and he also could not provide with any time frame in which the issue will be resolved. I am in NEED of a larger vehicle and am unfortunately unable to purchase one due to activity performed(whether legally or illegally) at AutoNation.
Desired Settlement I would like for them to purchase my vehicle back for the amount I owe or offer me all the incentives I've missed from other dealerships for a vehicle I am completely satisfied with.
Business Response Ms ****** was contacted and informed the problem has been fixed. She thanked us and informed us she had purchased a ***** and contends she never opened a BBB complaint. I will take her response and comments over the phone as her being satisfied with the outcome.
Consumer Response This response was taken verbally by the BBB: The issues have been completely resolved and you may close my case.
Complaint In the beginning of February I came in to purchase a car. I have come in previously and was impressed with how they handle used cars that they sale. Was shown around and informed all the checks and fixes they do before the sale a car. Thats why I returned when I was ready. At first I did request a new car since kia offered me financing on a new kia I thought I could do the same at Toyota. They brushed me a side on that and said they could only do a used car for the amount I wanted to pay a month and they said they could not get me approved on new one. But I dont even believe they tried. The did finally sale me on the concept of a used car with the deal in one year of good payment they would take the car back give me a new one at lower interest rate. I was fine with that. They only gave me two choices to look at and I went with the Toyota Camry 2000 because of its reputation, only having 2 owners with excellent care to car, with being told it was fully checked out and in good condition. Things were good for the first two weeks until the back passenger ****** stopped working during normal use. It now **** not stay up. Two weeks after that the passage ***** widow **** not work all the time **** go down but not up. When I called about the first one they said that I would have to pay for it myself even though I had not even had the car 30 days. Then on April 25 I called to schedule oil change when the oil light started to flicker when I would hit my breaks, not due for oil change till May. Called and scheduled the oil change for the 26th. That night on the way home from work on the hi-way after 10pm the car was acting strange going onto the hi- way. The transmission raved up and acted like it would not go into gear. So let off gas and it went into gear and slowly gained speed to get to speed limit. When I got a little above 60 heard load pop and the car stalled out so pulled over. Did not try to restart car. Luckily, had friend behind me. He stated he could hear the pop and liquid sprayed on his car and he notice something come off the engine and back in. I had the car towed to Toyota that night. On Sunday called in and was informed I could get Rental car per the warranty agreement I got and they would call the insurance company on Monday. I did purchase the warranty to cover the engine and transmission. When I purchased this I asked if would cover the full cost of repair or just the amount of what the car was worth and he told me it would cover the full cost of the repair minus the $100 deductible. When I got a call back from the garage they told me that the insurance would only cover $2525 for the car and the rental and I would have to pay $1300 to fix. This is not acceptable! They came back with paying $700. Still not good. I have not even paid two car payments and something major happened not only putting my life at risk but taking my transportation away I need to get to work which is an hour away and now I am paying for a car I cannot drive. After everything an inspector came in and they took a week to tell me the same thing . It is now the 7th , I am still driving a rental with no resolution. I feel I was lied to about the car and the insurance the pushed on me. I feel I was sold a car they knew was not in good working order to get it off the lot and I was taken advantage of. I feel they need to fix this at no cost to me or honor the one year agreement early with the new car. In no way should a car you buy at a retable lot should have a tie rod go through an engine before you even pay your second payment. I ask you help me find resolution because my next step is to contact the local media and any other social media I can, along with the BBB, the city, attorney, and whoever else I can find. Which is something I do not want to do? I just want this fixed one way or another the correct way. I ask you correct this situation if for any reason because not only is it the right thing to do but because it **** support what good service Toyota has which in my eyes right now is not good. If this would have happened 6 months after getting the car I could have seen paying for it but I barely pulled it off the lot. Please help!Thank You,******** *********** Product_Or_Service: Toyota Camary
Desired Settlement I would like them to fix the car and cover the rental for the $100 deductible that was agreed upon or they could honer their other agreement early. Which is after one year of on time payments they would take the car back lower my interest rate and put me in new car. Either option would be good. I just need this fixed
Business Response To reaffirm... Ms *********** states she was approved at Kia for a new car, but decided to buy a car from us... a 2000 Camry AS_IS with 128,ooo ***** on it. I do appreciate her choice for a used car from us over a new one from Kia. I **** make this one and only concession to Ms ***********, I **** replace the motor and pay for the rental car. She **** pay the $100 deductible. The other stipulation is she **** sign a release with the understanding once again I **** not pay for anything else that fails, breaks or is damaged on this car. She can pick up her car tomorrow May the 13TH. She needs to contact **** my service Manager for the pick up time. She can call the store at XXX-XXX-XXXX to make arrangements.
Consumer Response (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) I did not know of the agreement till the called me the day the car was ready. I was not explained about the waiver but told to sign it to get the car. When I got the car back it was not driving right and the radio was not working. They proceeded to say I could not prove it worked before it everything was hooked up correctly. I asked what would cause it not to work after everything and was told if I punched it. I came back the next day after realized the car was not running right but the radio started working on its own. Was told by a manager there to speak to the service manager. He was grilling and they would not get him. They checked out the car and proceeded to tell me the car was fine even though the engine light was on. They said I needed to replace the EGR valve and drive belt which they claim is wear and tear. I took to shop today to get estament and was informed EGR valve is not wear and tear and both part should have been replace. Now there is antifreeze all over the engine from where they did not flush it out to check for leaks. I do not trust them to fix it anymore they have lied to me to many times. I want done with them to be honest but I need these issues fixed or the car replace.
Final Business Response I am willing to try and trade her out of this car if she can secure her own financing. I have gone above and beyond with this customer. I replaced the motor, paid for a rental. (Please read my initial response to her complaint) She bought an AS_IS car. That means it has no warranty. We have done everything I commited to in my response to her complaint with BBB. She signed a waiver stipulating this would and **** be the last time I fix her car. I am done....
Complaint In Dec. 2013, Toyota offered to pay up to 3 months of lease & waive disposition fee if I leased/purchased a new Toyota. Purchased car, still charged. Around December 2013, Toyota sent me an offer to trade in my 2010 Toyota Prius (leased) for a new Toyota. Under the terms of the offer, if I leased or purchased a new Toyota, then Toyota would pay up to three (3) months of my car payment and would waive the disposition fee. I made an appointment with the Toyota dealership in Fort Myers, provided the written offer to the salesman, and reiterated my understanding of the terms of the offer. In reliance on this offer, I agreed to purchase a 2014 Toyota Camry Hybrid. I took possession of the new car in December 2013, but have received invoices for the last two payments (all that were remaining on lease) and the disposition fee. I have made numerous calls to the dealership and letters to the finance company, but the charges have not been removed. At the present time, this is showing up as a negative mark on my wife's credit report. We have sent certified letters contesting these charges, while we paid the mileage overage.
Desired Settlement I want Toyota to honor the sales promotion, which is to waive the last two months lease payments ($898.99) and the disposition fee ($350.00), as well as correct all negative information in our credit reports for this issue.
Business Response Contact Name and Title: **** ***** Contact Phone: XXX-XXX-XXXX Contact Email: ********************* We spoke with South East Toyota finance/world omni and they will not waive the fees or payments Mr ***** owes. I have enclosed a form with Mr ***** signature affirming and aknowledging that he is responsible for any fees and remaining charges.I will as a matter of goodwill offer $300 towards these charges. if he would like to accept my goodwill gesture he can contact Wendell Hardy the General Sales Manager. I apologize for any miss communication.
Consumer Response (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) Autonation's employees were fully aware of the sales promotion from Toyota. They agreed that the promotion was the reason we came to the dealership. The also specifically knew that we were financing the purchase through USAA When we first met with Autonation. When we subsequently picked up the vehicle, *********** specifically acknowledged that Toyota would waive up to three months of payments and the disposition fee, but would not waive the excess mileage. We understood that we would have to pay the excess mileage and did pay this amount. We paid the excess mileage, but neither Toyota nor Autonation have lived up to their representations. My wife was present when we first met with the sales representative at Autonation and we met later with ***********. The misrepresentations have impaired our credit rating and continue to impair our credit. Autonation and Toyota must remedy this negative entry on our credit.
Final Consumer Response (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) Upon receipt of the prior response on May 12, 2015, which reiterated their offer of $300, I contacted AutoNation and was advised that the representative was gone for the day, but would be in on Wednesday, May 13, 2015. I called and spoke with the representative on May 13, 2015, and advised that we had accepted his offer. We were advised that they had to await the check from their home office and that it would take up to a week. I was also told that we would have to come in and sign a release, to which we also agreed. Therefore, there was another offer, acceptance, and consideration. We reasonably relied upon the representation and acted accordingly.
Final Business Response This response was provided verbally to BBB:
Due to the customer's commentary to us during his recent phone call to staff, it leaves us no choice but to rescind our goodwill offer.
Complaint I paid $85 for a recommended alignment, after which the car was parked in my garage. Five months later, I was told the car needed an alignment. On July 14, 2014, I took my 2011 Toyota Highlander to Auto Nation Toyota on Colonial Blvd in Fort Myers and paid $100.66 for a recommended alignment. On this same date, and having driven the car only 15 miles, the vehicle was then parked in the garage of my residence until December 16, 2014 when I returned from an overseas employment assignment in Morocco. On December 16th, I took the vehicle into Fort Myers Toyota to have the air checked in my tires since it had not been driven for five months and to have the tire sensor reset. On this date (December 16th) I was shown a printout revealing that the rear wheels were out of alignment and I was then told by the service representative that the vehicle needed an alignment. I questioned him since I had one done on July 14th and had not driven the car since then. He immediately stated that he was not aware that I had one done because he hadn't checked the "Service History" of my vehicle. After checking and realizing that the car had only been driven approximately 15 ***** since their "alleged" alignment in July, the car was taken into their service area to attempt to find the problem. At this time, I asked to speak to the supervisor who then attempted to explain that the vehicle was driven over a preliminary machine which found that it was out of alignment. This supervisor then stated that this machine is "unreliable," and therefore the car was going to be checked by their expert service person on a more reliable machine in the service area. My point to her (and to BBB), is if the first machine is so unreliable, why is it still being used, and it is this first unreliable machine that this company bases their decision on when it is time to EXTORT money from their customers. The other questions that I have is 1) Did I even need an alignment on July 14th, when this unreliable machine released a printout saying that I did, 2) If so, did this company even do an alignment when they charged me $100.66, 3) Has this company ever did ANY of the work they charged me for when I have brought my vehicle into their shop in the past, 4) How many of their customers receive a printout from this "unreliable" machine and are then convinced by thecToyota Representative to pay $100.66 for an alignment that their vehicle may not need, and 5) what other SCAMS is this Auto Nation Toyota Scion pulling on their customers EVERY DAY???
Desired Settlement A full refund of my initial $100.66 since I really am NOT convinced that I needed an alignment on July 14, 2014 and certainly am NOT convinced the "alleged" alignment was ever done AND a written apology from this company's Corporate Representative showing me that they have been made aware of this incident and will do everything they can in the future to attempt to regain the trust of their customers, because I certainly cannot be the only one who has raised questions about their falty practices. As a matter of fact, I know I'm not, because on the very date I had my vehicle in, I overheard another of their customers state, "every time we bring our car in here, they find something wrong with it."
Business Response Spoke with the consumer and are refunding the $100.66. Check went out on Friday and she should have it this week.
Consumer Response This response was taken verbally by the BBB: Yes I have receive the check for $100.66 but I have not cashed it. I want an written apology from the Corporate office and not the Fort Myers Location. When I receive this written apology, I will then close this and cash the check.
Final Business Response Ms ******** has recieved her reimbursement I extend our sincere apologies and hope she has not lost faith in us. We make mistakes, we are human and when we do we do not run from them. My service Director is *** **** and is aware of the incident and is closing the loop on any holes that would allow this to happen again.
Final Consumer Response (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) Yes, I have received reimbursement from this company, but NOT the requested written apology from the Toyota Auto Nation CORPORATE Office. I ask this simply because I feel their corporate office should be made aware of the SCAMS that this Fort Myers business conducts on the general public on a daily basis. As a matter of fact, even their written response to the BBB didn't include the name or signature of the person who claims to have apologized. As far as I know, it could have been written by the person who does the oil changes in the service department. As I stated in my initial complaint, there was a woman in the waiting area at the same time I was there on December 16th who, after speaking to one of their customer service representatives, stated, "they find something wrong with my car EVERY TIME I come here and IT'S A BRAND NEW CAR." So, it's quite apparent that this company conducts such shady business on a regular daily basis with their customers. The general public needs to be made aware of their deceptive practices. And shame on them if in fact their corporate office is aware and actually condones such practices!
Complaint Incompetence regarding working on my MR 2 Toyota. I drove it in but couldn't drive it out. $1,750.00 later and it runs worse. On Aug.21st. I drove my car to AutoNation Toyota for a $30.00 1- hour diagnostic test. Four hours later I was told to get a ride. I told their service rep. I'm on a fixed income and if repairs are needed,I would have to wait. Aug.22nd. I was called and told I needed a TCM at a cost of $1,200.00. Aug.23.rd. I reminded them I'm on a fixed income and would have to pick my car up..I was told my car couldn't be driven. I asked how a car can be driven in and now can't be driven out? I was told their 30- year tec. Tried to reprogram my TCM and it wouldn't take (not advised he was doing this ) I agreed to pay for a new TCM and it was installed. Two days later they call and say the New TCM was bad and ordered another one. Then the next day they tell me the ECM Computer is also bad and that one is $1,500.00. After complaining to Managment they agreed to send the ECM to Jacksonville Fl. To be rebuilt @ their expense. They didn't give me this option
Desired Settlement On Aug.21 st. I took my car to AutoNation Toyota for a $30.00 1- hour diagnostic test. 4- hours later I was told to get a ride home and come back the next day. On Aug. 22nd. I was told I needed a new TCM. I ask what happen to mine and was told the 30- year tec. Tried to reload my TCM and it didn't work.( I didn't ok it) Now they tell me it Needs a new TCM @ $1,200.00. I told them I'm on a fixed income and it will have to wait. I told them to put the hood down and I'd drive it home. They told me that the car I drove in can't be driven home. I agreed to the TCM and was called a couple days later and told the new TCM was bad and they ordered another one. The put the TCM in and called me to let me know the other ECM Computer was bad. And it will be another $1,500.00 for a new one. I contacted their General Mgr. And talked to **** and told her I am very upset and rather have them make this right With me. They agreed to send the ECM to Jacksonville Fl. To have it rebuilt. ( I was not given this option) a week later I was told the ECM was fried and couldn't be rebuilt. They agreed to sell me a New ECM @ cost. I agreed and had it installed. After TWO MONTHS I get a call to pick the car up on a Friday night @ closing. I drive it 5- Blocks and it is doing the same thing it did when I took it to them. I contacted them the next day and was told it depends on how much money I'm willing to spend on my car to fix it. I have found at least two other MR2 owners that was treated the same way. The previous owner also spent $5,000.00 with this Company trying to get this car fixed. If I would have known this,I wouldn't of gone here. I told the service Mgr. The reason people have their car's serviced @ Toyota is because their Techs. Are trained and shouldn't guess. I feel that if they don't know how to work on a MR2 they should be honest and admit it. I drove my car in but couldn't drive it out. $1,750.00 and TWO months later it runs worse then it did! This is the second time in three years they put a TCM and ECM in this car that didn't correct the problem. They remembered the car but failed to share any of this with me.My guess is there are more then me and the other two I met on Spyderchat.com. This is a sit for other MR2 owners.
Business Response Mr ****, brought his 2002 92K mile MR2 in August to have **** my service Manager give him a second opinion on a repair quote from another facility. Our diagnosis found multiple problems. Without being too technical the cars computer, electrical and transmission has problems. We tried to re-program his computer to save him money but the computer could not be re programmed. The car has a re built transmission and has been repaired and serviced at multiple facilities including ours for numerous related and unrelated problems. My service Manager and technician believe its a flood damaged car. Both are master certified technicians. They have the highest credentials that can be earned in Toyota. I've included a carfax that shows 4 privious owners. Which may suggest they all had similar problems with this car (as stated by Mr ****). It may be time for Mr **** to retire the MR2. At this time I consider this matter closed.
Consumer Response (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) They may have the Credentials from Toyota but they lack the ability to work on a MR2. They have made as of date $7,000.00 in repair bills on this car. There are at least two other MR2 owners that has issues with this company. Treated the same in terms of picking a part,if it doesn't work they pick another. I researched this company after the fact an they have a 1 1/2 star rating out of 5,I am obviously not the first to get screwed by AutoNation Toyota. Their go to response when they can't fix a car is,must have been hit by lightning or flooded. They have no proof of eather. If I was their owner I would try and figure out how Germain Toyota 30 minutes down the road has a 5- star rating. I have sold Toyota's and have been around service departments my whole Adult life. I have never seen anything like this one. They installed two new computers that are under the seat,my car runs worse then it did. I am supposed to believe they replaced them? I wouldn't trust this company to do an oil chage.

Business Response I replied to Mr *********'s email the minute I got it apologizing for the mix up. I told him I would look into it. Attached is a copy of the check dated the 18th of August like I said. I also have attached a letter I have sent to South East Toyota explaining that it was our mistake. We make mistakes every now and then and I have owned up to it. I again I apoplogize for the mix up.
Consumer Response (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) i called southeast Toyota and they said they received the check and because it's over a month late they reported me and my wife to credit bureaus as delinquent auto loan account and our credit will suffer for a years to come because of **the like you said mix up now and then** and you expect us to pay for it by paying high interest rate and get denied for a loan, when i called Toyota customer service they told me that when they contacted you.. with my problem you said that you will fix the problem friendly, the reason that i didn't file a complaint form with DMV nor the attorney general or called the local news, I'm still hoping to not go further on this and if you think you are not responsible and your headquarter are so i will do the necessary to let them know what happened to my wife and i credit am still asking for what i asked in my original complaint and it's fair, we have been a loyal Toyota customers since year 2000 and we still with the old store and yours and i wish for you to understand the problem, and your apology is accepted but you need to do better than that to make us satisfied.
