Took my car in good faith for a repair I was told I needed from Running great auto. And they have ruined my engine.
Took my car in for minor repair and the mechanic ruined the PCM and my engine . when I went to pick my car up the owner stated that he would tow my car to the dealer because they couldn't figure out how they damaged my car..Mechanic admitted to breaking the PCM and changing other parts that were not approved by me or needed..NOW DEALER CANT CORRECT PROBLEM AND ITS COST ME ALOT OF MONEY

Desired Settlement
I would like my car to run the same way I brought it to them in good faith that's all.. My car is not even old I've taken care of it since day one like a baby I just want my car to Run the way it did before they ruined it..

We sent your car to the dealer so they could diagnose the problem. You were told to call me or have them call me once the problem was found. This way I would know what to do. If my mechanic caused the problem I would correct it or pay the ***** dealer to correct it.
I have not gotten any calls or have you returned my calls. Instead you have a debt collector office send me a letter to call them (which I did and they don't return my calls).Then you attack my ******** page saying we ruined your car.
How can I help you if you wont let me. If there is a bill to be paid for a repair caused by my shop I will pay it.
I have known you many years and have taken care of your car after you have brought it to other places and you have stood in my office crying. I have picked up and delivered your car to your job because of your work times. I have always been there for you and now you are treating me like a crook. I told you I would help you. You did not call me just attacked me. I cant help if you wont let me.

She signed off as a payment in full and she will contact you as well

10/02/2014Problems with Product / Service | Read Complaint Details

February 2012 I brought my car in to be restored. They told me it would be about 6 months give or take a month or two. One year and 8 months later **** ****** told me it was done. I test drove it and found several problems. He told me to take it home and make a list and as soon as he got the parts he would fix it in one day so I wouldn't have any downtime. And there would not be any additional cost as I had already spent over $21,000. I did that in a weeks time and four months later I still had not been told he would repair it. I complained to the Division of Consumer Services and that got him all upset to where he said he would only do whatever they said to do. It's now been 2 1/2 years and they have done nothing. I don't know where to start. The right front brake pulled hard to the right due to brake fluid leaking on it. The clutch started slipping and my mechanic found they had only put a 9 1/4" clutch disk on a 10" pressure plate, the gas tank was leaking, the fuel line was routed over the exhaust pipe. When they sand blasted the car they neglected to clean all the sand and metal out of the car. Therefore the sand blew back into the instrument cluster, steering column, and radio, ruining all three. The right upper ball joint came loose making the car unsafe. They installed the hood torsion bars in backwards. To change them both fenders and the hood have to be removed. The convertible top leaks. The right exhaust gasket on the engine was broke and had to be replaced. They painted the car the wrong color but I finally accepted that as they wanted me to pay for the correct paint. There was no return spring on the clutch. The exhaust pipe is too close to the starter and causes the starter to get hot which will burn it out. The bucket seats are rusty, need sanded and painted. They put blue carpeting in the car and painted it black.This is not a complete list as things are breaking all the time. I have not gotten to drive the car much as it has been in the shop. Desired Settlement
I want them to pay for all the repairs due to their negligence and incompetence. Also they owe me $54.70 for a brake master cylinder they charged me for and never installed. I don't want them to do any work on my car.

To fill you in on the story behind the complaint.
Mr ******* Stopped in my shop and showed me photos of his car that he wanted to restore. It had been sitting for 25 years and now that he is retired he wanted to restore it. He then showed up with the car without any appointment on a trailer and dumped it on me. I informed him that there was a schedule and we could not start on it for a while. He informed me he was leaving the country and was is no rush.

We inspected the car and it was in far worse condition then he described. We informed him we would have so sandblast the body because of all the ru5t and bad bodywork done in the past. After getting it back from the blaster the car was in horrible condition it had no floors, trunk, 1 fender, rear quarter fenders left from the rust. Parts were not avalible and would need to be fabricated, He agreed and said do what ever is needed.

As time went on Mr ******* called and told me he was injured in a motor cycle crash and would be out for a while. I had thought he was out of the country but he was not. We told him we were at the point of paint but he was not able to get by to see it due to his injury. We painted the car and he came to look at weeks later. He felt the color was not correct but we showed him it matched the factory paint chart. told him to find what he thought was the right color. He showed up with a sample that was the same. I told him that if he wanted repainted I would not charge him for labor but he would have to pay for the paint. He agreed the paint was very nice and we did a great Job he would keep it.

As the assembly of the car started he needed lots of parts that were just not good but he thought they were so we reused them. All items that we sold him were installed and working good when car left . He drove car from Lakeland to Ocala with out any problems. Then he started to nit pick all little items. I told him to make a list and we would look at them. He had another shop repair some of the items that we had replaced front brake shoes, a seal, and a battery that we sold him. I sent him a check for these items.

Mr ******* has no idea what a classic car is like after it sat for 25 years. There will be problems as time goes on due to the age of the car. I can not work with him any more he has made complaints with everyone before I could look at the car. He has told people we stole $1010.00 from him. I am sorry I will not do any thing more for him.

Consumer Response
The case with the consumer services was closed due to the fact that they could do nothing about poor workmanship and quality control. The check that Mr. ****** sent was after the fact and certainly was not an agreed amount, only to him. It won't even cover 1/3 of the cost to repair the clutch he put in. Or even the money spent in repairing the dash because of the sand and metal left after sandblasting. I'll be sending in a separate letter the estimate to repair the speedometer along with other receipts and estimates for repairs due to their poor workmanship and lack of good quality control. Also included will be pictures.

From the moment I walked in there he had my home address and phone number and a few weeks later my email address. So at no time was he unable to reach me. I was in the hospital a year later after I delivered the car to him but only for 4 days. Why he is trying to use that as an excuse is beyond me. Since they told me it would take about 6 months. I was told to bring it over by Dave and I would be 3rd in line. I went there many times to check up on my car near the end of six months but was wasting my time and money as nothing was getting done. I had planned to take my car to a class reunion in late August 2012. It is an 85 mile round trip to their shop.. As time wore on close to a year I got disgusted. I told them I may be going overseas and would let them know. At that time I gave them my Brother's phone number and address in case that happened. I was in a wheel chair after getting out of the hospital but I was mobile and came there in my wheel chair and was shocked they had painted my car without consulting me. I brought them paint chips of the correct color and you could see it did not match the original color.

As you read his reply keep in mind his business is restoration. Never once before I made my complaint did he say anything about not wanting to restore my car. Now I wish he had. Sandblasting is a normal procedure to remove old paint and rust. I even bought another left front fender and grill per his request. He had to repair the left rear quarter panel. They bought new floor pans and put them in. By the way bad floor pans are normal in a convertible which I made them aware of.

Contrary to his statement, the car had problems when I left the shop. Even more problems showed up when I went to Ocala. I had to have the alternator rebuilt before I went to Ocala, also fixed the leak in the gas tank. The top leaked profusely when it rained on the way up. The hood would not stay open by itself. The speedometer was not working nor were the dash lights.

After a year and 8 months he said the car was done. When I picked it up he said it had a one year guarantee and to make a list of the problems and he would repair them after he obtained the parts. I sent him a list after one week and four months later I still did not hear from him so I complained to the Division of Consumer Services. This upset him so he said he was only going to do what they said to do. I have spent thousands of dollars since getting the car back and will have to spend thousands more. He is trying to discredit me. He knows what I am saying is true. I pointed out dangerous mistakes and very poor workmanship that I don't wish on anyone else. He is being very uncooperative and unwilling to admit to his mistakes. That is why he is attacking me instead of addressing his mistakes.
